Vs. Zergling Rushes
The Story:
The zerg get these little guys very quickly.
When attack an unsuspecting enemy, even their first six built can defeat
someone. Remember, they are weak units, so even a minimal early defense
will stop them. Here's how.
Zerg:
You've got all the time in
the world:
Even if you build your spawning pool one drone
later than your opponett, you should have it done and have built at least
6 zerglings by the their first 6 show up. You will have fended off their
first attack (the attacks from now on shouldn't be a problem if they continue
attacking), and you'll have a better economy.
Protoss:
One superman:
That first zealot will save your life. Although
he'll be going up against 6 zerglings, you'll be able to fend off the attack
with your probes. Typically, this would mean certain death for you in the
future, but the two zealots currently in production at your two gateways
will easily fend off the next six and from there you can continue building
more zealots until you feel confident enough to attack. This is why it's
important for protoss players to build at least 2 gateways immediately
no matter what strat they plan to follow.
Forge first strategies are also possible with
lower costs and build times, but this is a more advanced tactic.
Terran:
Bunker ASAP!:
Start that bunker the second your barracks
finishes! Build marines once you have the minerals (skip another scv
for the moment). You should have a bunker with two marines in it when the
first zerglings come- and that's 6 easy kills. Remember to use your scvs
against zerglings that run around- an scv kills a zergling one-on-one.
From that point, you'll have at least one full bunker for the next 6 and
more bunkers after that.
In general...
Well, either the first six zerglings killed
you, or you fended them off and you'll be fine.
This should NOT be an issue in the game,
but with a 2 minute draw time, it really bites to be the victim.
