With Lugh people are in two minds as to whether he as a god of the
Sun. With Belenus it is definite and Lugh must defer to him in such matters.
Belenus is also the God of Fire and controls all forms of it. he is one
of the Druidic deities and is highly associated with the calender. He encourages
the construction of standing stones which are used as calenders and places
of worship. His followers often worship him around bonfires and it is said
to be a way of blessing births of cattle by driving them through special
Beltain fires in May.
Belenus is one of the older deities and is very close in friendship
to Daghdha.
Roleplaying Notes
Belenus is one of the older deities and in times of old he was one
of the most powerful. Nowadays he is not as he was, he is still venerated
though he has not kept up well with the times. When he does visit the world
he does not often reveal himself anymore unless it be to one of his Druids
or a chieftain. He does however often speak to his Druids through fires
they have invoked and it is greatly believed that in the future he will
once more be a great power among the gods.
Like Daghdha Belenus is known to have a weakness for women.
