Cernunnos {kair-noo'-nohs} (Herne) - he is the god of wild nature
and is often associated with forests and autumn. He is also known as the
Green Man or the Horned God.
The so-called "stag god" of the ancient Celts. He is typically portrayed
as a human figure with the antlers of a deer.
Herne is a very ancient deity greatly associated with the wilderness
and all the creatures that reside within it. He has very little association
with the other Garaleyern deities and it only on very rare occasions that
he meets with them.
It is said that Herne resides within the Garaleyern countries and
can be found where ever there is wilderness. He however only ever reveals
himself to humankind on very rare occasions.
Roleplaying Notes
Herne is greatly concerned with the balance of nature. He sees all
animals as his children and strives to maintain the cycles of life. He
sees humankind also as a part of nature but misguided with its association
with it. Despite this he still maintains a fondness for humankind and on
occasions help them in matters of harvesting and crop rotation.
Herne tends to be worshipped in rural areas and hunters and woodsmen
pay particular homage to him.

Herne can appear as any form of animal. He in particular likes to
take on the form of a Stag. When he takes on the form of a human it is
that of a very tall man dressed in hunters garb. From his head grows two
antlers.

Special Att/Def: Herne can call upon any Clerical spells that he needs to. He is immune to any form of harmful magic that has its basis in nature such as electricity, heat animal etc. He can shapechange at will and use the abilities of any animals.
Duties of the Priesthood
Priests of Herne are good woodsmen and preservers of the balance
of nature. They maintain the natural order and often help in rural areas.
As protectors of nature it is their duty as well as the Rangers
to deal with any threats that should arise. Many of those who join the
Priesthood have actually come from the the ranks of Rangers, hunters and
woodsmen.
