Odins Day 41 Rowen
News Letter 2

Alastar Gellenduin the Head of the Isle of Carragar School of Magic is dead. He was discovered on the 35th of Rowen in the Schools garden battling with what was thought to be Allister the Black. A great black dome was shielding them from any interference as the battle went on and as Alastar managed to shatter the dome a great being rose up behind him whilst he was duelling with Allister and raked him with its claws several times dropping him to the ground. This creature was thought to be a demon. First on the scene was a visitor to the school, a bard who goes by the name of Rhudolf Keane (apparently the same man who was a part of the outlaws Jacob and his Hooded Men). He arrived as Alastar fell to his knees dying and Allister the Black and his servant creature disappeared from the scene. Mr Keane heard the last words of Alastar but as to what these words were nothing is known. On the 36th of Rowen officials of King Aldin III released this statement
‘The King is greatly concerned about the attack on the head of the school of magic and is going to mount a full investigation into the crime.’
Sir Hagor Barrafeild has also stated that he will look into the matter and attempt to bring the murderer to justice.
A messenger from Allister the Black has been sent to the King and the Garaleyan press stating these words from the Necromancer. “I, Allister the Black, although perfectly capable of committing the murder upon Alastar Gellenduin had no part in his death. Let it be known that if any being or army attempts to confront me on such matters, they shall be met with full force and quickly destroyed.”
The King has not yet commented on this, though it expected that he will not act with force due to the troubles in the North-East of Erland.
Rhudolf Keane has not been found to comment on the situation.
Meanwhile back at the Isle of Carragar School of Magic the search for the new head of the school are underway. The three favourite candidates are Lady Zarna Heiner a Arlof woman who joined the school twenty years ago, Conner McKenner a Sarek Sorcerer and Michael Peers younger brother to the famous Sir Edward Peers and the favourite of the three.

Sir Conrad (the Red Knight) has stirred up his old rivalries with Sir Hagor Barrafeild after seven years of peace. He gathered together eight other Knights to battle with Sir Hagor. Sir Hagor, when alerted to the danger gathered in aid his two friends Sir Christopher Darkmoor and Sir Edward Peers and went to meet the Knights. As the battle went on several wandering adventurers came across the fight and dealt with two of the Knights while the other battle went on. Sir Hagor's team were victorious, but before he could capture Sir Conrad who was the only one standing of his team, he disappeared before their very eyes using some form of magic.

The troubled events that have gone on in Shallowdale over the past year have come to an end. An assassination attempt on Baron Mervin Bowers was made in the early morning hours of the 2nd of Elm, though was stopped by the many Red Cloaks that the Baron was using as bodyguards. It is reported that he went after Jacob the Pathfinder of which he blamed for the attempt and challenged him. Sir Steven was at the scene to witness the events and reported the Barons death. Since the Barons death Sir Stephen has inherited his lands and titles. He mounted a full investigation into the assassination attempt and reported that it had not been the work of Jacob and his Hooded Men, it had been made by an unknown enemy of the former Baron. Since coming into power Baron Stephen Bowers has pardoned Jacob and his Hooded men and set all that was wrong within his county right, this has proved to make him a very popular ruler. He has also married Lady Brionne of Farrel Keep who has now been revealed as one of the founding members of the Hooded Men. The group have now been reported to have disbanded and gone their separate ways. As for the Red Cloaks, they have not been seen in the area since the assassination attempt.

Many of the divisions of the Kings army have been sent up to the North-East of the country after reports of foreign ships have been seen off the coasts. The ships are of unknown origins and so could be the scout ships of an invading fleet. Duke Carathway Verningdale has put the Earlish fleet at full alert and all the major ports of Erland have been filled by Naval War ships.
Sir Hagor Barrafeild has been reported to be the man to lead the army if such a war should happen and this has had the effect of many Knights flooding to the North-East ready for battle. Suspected countries that might attempt such an attack are Aladaer, Ronayer, Kalsidier or one or some of the countries from the Continent of Saradown.

In Seanand Jason Cruelhart and Company and Colin the Bashful’s Gang have clashed. Jason took on Colin personally and is said to have given Colin fashion tips by using his blade to redesign Colin's Clothes. Both gangs had their losses before they broke off and it is said they have now become great enemies.
