Evan’s Eye 1

First of all our apologies. We have had a  lack of materials due to the war and have been unable to bring you news over the last year. We hope that this news letter will bring you up to date on the last year. Also you will notice that the name of the news letter has changed to Evans Eye as we thought that News Letter 1,2 ,3 and so on would be a bit boring. We have therefore decided to name the news letter after our editor as he keeps his eye on things so well.

News on the war is so extensive that we have to summarise on the major events only. When the war began little was known about the enemy that had attacked the Earlish nation. We soon learned that it was the feared race of times past known as the Kalsidiens. The Irenayern, Weneth and the Sareks soon came to the aid of the Earlish and the war seemed to be going very much in our favour then disaster struck. A new enemy attacked. The Sparesions, Istonions and Farene soon joined the fray attacking Weneth first. Weneth was soon overrun as the attack was completely unexpected and most of their warriors were fighting with the Earlish against the Kalsidiens. Now using the Weneth Isle as a base of operations they soon invaded Irenayern before it could bring too many of its soldiers back to defend it. They would have no doubt  swept over the entire country had it not been for the actions of one man. Colm Murphy a retired army Captain managed to gather together a ragtag army made up of retired soldiers, mercenaries, warriors and peasants and with this unlikely army they halted the combined Saradown forces from the advance. By the time the Saradown forces managed to prepare a full and proper strike on Colms army the proper Irenayern had returned and after much fighting both armies remained in their original positions neither giving ground.
Sir Hagor Barrafield has been made the Field Marshal of the Earlish armies and been working closely with his old friend and Admiral of the Earlish fleets Duke Verningdale to try and find answers to the Kalsidien problem.
Sir Stephen of Shallowdale has proved himself a great hero of the war. Many Kalsidien’s managed to finally break through the Earlish fleets and and land on Earlish soil. When the reports of the landings came through Sir Stephen and his army were the only troops nearby. He quickly acted and engaged the Kalsidien armies and although greatly outnumbered by ten to one he managed to turn the tides and send the Kalsidiens on their way although the loss to his army was great and he personally gained some serious wounds. When asked how he managed to gain such a great victory he made this reply. “I learned a great deal when I had been combating Jacob and his Hooded Men. I used the terrain against them using the nearby forest to full advantage and setting up many traps and ambushes. I hope Brionne and Jacob are proud.” This battle soon came to be known as the Battle of Muldayer Woods.
Not all was good news to Sir Stephen how ever. Many of Saradown forces landed on Earlish shores about a week later and quickly took the counties of Kern and Thurnington. This meant that if they intend to advance further that Shallowdale will be next in line. Sir Hagor quickly sent Sir Stephen and his army back to Shallowdale to prepare its defences. Sir Hagor also sent another two armies under Sir Stephens command to help with the defence.
With the pressure now quite heavily on Irenayer it was looking as if their armies may soon be overcome. King James III of the Sarek Isles brought his armies out of the Earlish front line and transferred them to Irenayer to help them with their struggle leaving the Earlish in a precarious state.
The Earlish who were now fighting a war on two fronts with very little in the way of allies since the fall of Weneth and with the Sarek and Irenayern caught up in their struggle to repel the Saradown invaders from Irenayer decided to turn to the Continent of Irdinia in asking for aid though it was not forthcoming. Ronayer was too fictionalised and Aladaer was on the verge of having a small war break out within its Baronies.

The Wraiths are no more. Between them the Shields of Shallowdale and the Rangers managed to bring to justice the gang members, how ether the Wraiths leaders managed to escape. It was later discovered that the Wraiths leaders were not Ben Durn and Nessan Harvey, they were merely posing as them and had managed to drive off the real Ben and Nessan through offering the Wraiths bigger shares. About a week after the capture of the Wraiths the two impostors were found dead near the capital. They both had shot wounds in their heads so it can only be assumed that Ben and Nessan caught up with their rivals. The Rangers have stated that they are still looking for Ben and Nessan.

There seems to be a new adventuring group coming of age within Erland. Little is known about the group who are said to come from the village of Wiccam. They are how ether said to have stopped a warped cult of Arawn from arising within Salloway. It would also seem that they have a patron who is a member of the Red Cloaks yet this is unconfirmed.
Disaster has struck for the Shields of Shallowdale. They attempted to take on the Black Knights in battle and were completely defeated. They are the second group to fall to the Black Knights since the Templars were also defeated by them earlier in the year. The only survivor of the Shields was its founder Brionne Hawking. Since she returned to her home county she seems to have gathered around her a new group though whether they shall be as great as the old one remains to be seen. On a brighter note Brionne and her new group have finally managed to put an end to the strange going on's within Shallowdale though its unclear as to how they managed it and what they actually faced.

Large footprints have been found in several fields within the county of Shenning and a lot of live stock has gone missing. An estimation of the size of the creature who left them is said to be over twenty feet.

Rhudolf Keane the infamous bard has died serving his country. He and several others were sent on a espionage mission to find out more about the Kalsidiens they how ether all died trying to bring back the information they had gained. Rhudolf had become known for several things among which were being a member of the hooded men, his observations of Alastar Gellenduin’s death and his play ‘Jacob and his Hooded Men’ which tells the tale of their many adventures against Baron Mervin Bowers. The play has now become quite popular in Erland and is believed to a play that is going to last. Perhaps one day it will help historians have an understanding of the events that happened over these few years. A memorial service was held for Rhudolf in his birthplace of Farrel. Among the people who attended were Sir Stephen of Shallowdale, Brionne Hawkings, Jacob the Pathfinder, Sir Hagor Barrafield and surprisingly Rackume Deepshadow.
