A new era has rose up under a new King.
After the coronation of King Urath II we find many new hardships upon
the land. The King has increased taxes heavily, demanded a higher tithe
from the county rulers and has even placed a tithe on the School of Magic
and unbelievably on the Church. The church has had no choice but to pay
as he is its head however there has as of yet been no reply from the School.
The higher taxes have caused great dissent throughout the counties and
many of the rulers have openly criticised the King for his harshness, others
however have come to his defence arguing that the money is needed to boost
the economy and rejuvenate the land after the war.
The most outspoken of all the Rulers against the King is the Earl of
Kerningdale. He has been unreserved with his criticism and has even threatened
the King with civil war.
Amidst all this the King has appointed a new advisor by the name of
Galin. His choice is a controversial one, not only is Galin a powerful
Sorcerer who is not a member of the school but he is also an Elf and many
feel that it is unwise to give an Elf such a high position of power.
Can we expect all these events to come together and cause great unrest
in the country. Only time will tell.
It is reported that Eltar Fireblade has rescued the village of Chillam single handed. He was said to be returning from Vordurn to Shallowdale when he alerted to the smoke of the village in the distance. He quickly approached to find it being ransacked by many bandits and immediately drew his swords and engaged them in combat. Despite the fact he was greatly outnumbered he showed the skills for which he has become renowned and won the day.
A attempt to break into Farral Keep has been made. One dark night several men and women found their way into the Keep by a secret entrance only to be caught by the guard. They were being taken to the dungeons when they made their escape. Several guards were killed in the incident. The individuals are unknown. Duke Stephen Hawkings has offered 5000 Commons for information leading to their capture and Lady Brionne has sworn to hunt them down through what ever means.
The Wiccam Wanderers have been very busy over the last few months establishing themselves quite a name. They have defeated a Formorion. Put a stop to the strange effects that have been going on in the North East and overcome a Undead Knight on the Isle of Carragar. Their membership has changed throughout the last few months but we know of two of there number now. One is James the Green a Sorcerer of skill and potential. The other is Bethany the Fair, a beautiful young girl of great talent. They recently disappeared however on the Isle of Caragar after investigating into some missing children. Will these young heroes return. Will shall have to see.
There is strange news of Clerics and Priests losing the ability to grant miracles and channel the power of the gods. It is mostly limited to those who undertake scholarly duties though there are reports of it happening to rural clerics as well. It seems it isn’t just limited to Garaleyer either. Travellers have told of the same occurrences on the Continent of Irdinia. The only Priesthood that seems to be untouched is the Church of Math Mathonwy.
Mixed news comes from Aladaer. Waric Dunloon has won his feud with two other Barons and secured his borders. Despite this other Rulers have taken to war with each other ignoring the plea of their King. It seems that the King has know got no other course now but to step in and take sides which could cause civil war.
There have been many new raids on Earlish, Sarek and Ireneyern soil
by Ronic Tribes and due to the depleted size of the armies and navies of
the countries very little could be done to stop them. One bright note for
Sarek however was that the Tartan terrors repelled one of the invading
Tribes even though the Ronics had three time their number.
A new adventuring group has arose in Ireneyer. They go by the name of the Blades and have brought attention to themselves by defeating a pack of supernatural hounds which plagued the countryside to the southwest of the country.
The Rangers have been getting very close to Ben Durn and Nessan Harvey. After the pair robbed a merchant caravan on the outskirts of Vordurn the Rangers quickly took up the chase as it was a trap they had set. They followed the pair for several days but eventually lossed them at the river of Ealing. The leader of the Rangers, Keron Miller stated that he would not give up the chase and next time he would succeed in their capture and bring the pair in to justice.
News has come forth that Sir Christopher Darkmoor, Lady Suzannah Dews and Sir Edward Peers joined each others company to face an uprising of undead brought forth by Allister the Black. Allister claimed he brought the undead forth to defend himself from a now deceased adventuring group who tried to destroy him however the the unholy hoard brought great worry to the surrounding villages and towns and Sir Christopher who is a long time enemy of Allister enlisted the aid of the two other Knights to put a stop to the potential threat before it was used in malice. Allister escaped the scene and Sir Christopher swore to hunt him down.
