To be honest, I'm not sure our group is playing Amber right.
I say this, because it sounds like a grim and political game, almost literary.
Thing is, we can't possibly play it seriously. I'm playing a shape changing alien, who only has the blood of Amber because he incubated in the body of an Amberite.
The other characters are: A guul from Stargate (like Ra), who is possessing the body of an Amberite; a detective from the 1920s (albeit a genuine Amberite), and a mad wizard. (ditto, an Amberite).
So you can see how things might not go very...normally.
In the first session, we were all asked to meet Brand.
I'm not familiar with the setting, but I got the impression that he was a nasty character.
We turned up, and were arrested by Cain for questioning, regarding association with Brand. Apparently he's committed high treason.
In the second session, (well...third. the second was basically getting to the meeting) we were sent to find Brand and what powers he had etc...
First point of call, the tower where we were supposed to meet Brand. No clues there. So we go to the place where *I* met Brand. Ditto.
At which point, everyone decides they should visit my home shadow. They didn't know (in character) that my character was an alien thing.
So, off we go, but it takes a while to travel between shadows, so we stop of at a service station along the motor way. The Guul conquers the station, and gets human slaves to bring him coffee and doughnuts.
I implant a few people in the toilets with alien eggs.
The wizard stumbles round in a daze from the modern world, while the detective tries to teach him the concept of doughnuts.
When we reached my shadow, I was forced to reveal my true nature. The detective then said 'I know I'm going to regret asking this, but what do you eat?'
'Don't worry, I don't eat friends'
We found no important clues here, so we're off to Osiris's land (the Stargate character). I think I'll get ready to find some hosts...
