Elf, Cerilian

Overview

Elves are slightly smaller than men, and seemingly more fragile. They are a far more ancient race than man, a magical race.

Appearance: An elf is beautiful to the human eye, and their voices can hold men spellbound. They are small, slender and pale, usually black-haired and dark-eyed.

Psychology: The elven heart is moved by deep emotions. They swing from deep melancholy, to wild delight, to dark rage, often for reasons that men do not understand. They are prone to be wild and disorganised, doing whatever pleases them from one moment to the next.
Elves enjoy magic, and many are talented at its use. As elves often live in high-magic areas, many elves know a simple spell or two.
Elves lived on cerilia long before the arrival of man. since man arrived, the elves have been forced back into the deepest woods, and many elves harbor deep resentment towards humans. Even if they don't run off to join Rhuobhe Manslayer, they still want to see every human on the contient dead or tossed back into the ocean. And even the most tolerant of elves are rather proud and intolerant by human standards.
Elves harbor a deep love towards nature, and are often shocked to see how humans treat the world.

Combat: The cerilian elf can be a skilled warrior. Elven knights are among the most fearsome troops on the continent, and even the Gorgon rarely attacks the larger elven nations. Although elves will use any weapon, most prefer weapons with a low metal content.
For all their potential skill, elves are best suited to defensive guerilla war.

Elves are not impeded by terrain. They may move at full speed, and no terrain is particularly fatiguing. Also, they leave few traces of their passage. In natural surroundings, an elf gives a -8 penalty to tracking attempts.

Magic

Elves are adept at magic. Any elf may buy Magery, knacks, Natural spellcaster and similiar advantages at no Unusual Background costs. But still, elven mages are rather rare. True magic is a difficult study.
