PPE or POTENTIAL PSYCHIC ENERGY
Every living thing gives off potential psychic energy. This energy is normally kept inside of each life until that life is extinguished, when the PPE is released and uncontained. Some, however, have learned to tap into this "life force" and can direct it to do certain things for them.
Each person starts with a number of dice listed for their PPE. To determine your actual PPE total, roll the number of dice indicate for the character, and record that amount. This is your total PPE. In addition, anyone who can manipulate this PPE, will also have a level of ability in PPE. This level starts at 1D, but may be increased. This level indicates which levels of PPE that the character can manipulate. It will also be used to determine any damage in the case of a PPE skill that does damage.
All PPE users start with a level of 1D, which allows them to use any skills in the 1st Level. Experience points can be used to boost the level that a PPE user can access. In order to advance in levels of PPE use, a number of experience points equal to 10 times the number before the dice must be used to increase 1 pip. After 3 pips are gained, the next level is achieved. Therefore, someone with 1D would have to spend 10 experience points to reach 1D+1, then 10 more experience for 1D+2, and 10 more points to reach 2D. From that point, to go up, it would cost 20 experience points to raise to 2D+1, 20 more to reach 2D+2 and so on.
Some character classes allow for the character to use a PPE skill at a level higher than your initial level of 1D. If this is listed, then you may use it at the level that is listed, but you may not use any other skills at that level until your PPE use level has reached it. An example would be a beginning character that has a level of 1D in PPE use, but could use the skill of Fire Bolt, which is actually a 4D skill. Because this is part of the character, he may use that skill, however he could not use any other 4th level skills. In addition, damage for the Fire Bolt is only calculated using the characters actual level, which is 1D. This character would have to increase his PPE use level up to 4D before he will be able to use any other 4th level skills other than Fire Bolt.
