Yakkety Yak-Please Call Back

.::Ring::.

Paige jumped. Maybe that's Tay. It's been almost a week since I received a call or anything from him.

"Paaaaige, telephone!" her mother yelled from downstairs.

It has to be him!

"I got it, Mom! Hello?" Paige said, trying to hold back her excitement.

"Hi Paige! This is Kristen."

"Oh...hi," Paige replied, disappointed.

"What's the matter?"

"Nothing...I'm just tired I guess; sorry."

"Oh, it's alright. I was just wondering if you wanna come to the mall with me. I have to find a new outfit to wear for my big date with Tanner next Friday."

"Sure; sounds great. What time?"

"How about six?"

"-K-, see you then."

"Alright. Bye!"

"Buhbye."

The second Paige hung up the phone, it rang again. "What did you forget to tell me Kristen?" Paige asked when she picked up the receiver.

"Sorry to disappoint you, but this isn't Kristen," a male voice on the other line said.

"Oh, I'm so sorry Tay! I was talking to Kristen like five seconds ago," Paige explained, embarassed.

"Oh, it's okay. I was just wondering how you and your grandpa are doing."

"We're both doing great! He's been at home a few days and he's already up and going. How's your mom?"

"She's doing pretty well. She had a girl...her name's Zoe Genevieve Hanson."

"Really? I have...or uh, want to see her some time!" Paige hinted.

"Sure, whenever you want. Well, I gotta go now. I'll call you later though, -k-?"

"Okay; just make sure it's after eight 'cuz I'm going to the mall with Kristen."

"Okay! Byyye."

"Bye!" Paige said sadly as she hung up the phone. Well, that didn't establish much. I thought he was going to ask me to a movie or at least to see Zoe. Oh well...maybe he's just shy. Or maybe he likes someone else!

"Hey Taylor, can you help Ike set the table for your mom? She doesn't need to be on her feet right now," Walker said.

"Sure, Dad," Tay agreed as he walked into the kitchen.

"So Tay, who'd you just get off the phone with?" Ike asked teasingly.

"Paige...you know, the one who I met at the hospital?"

"Oh yeah, some fan," Isaac smirked.

"They aren't as bad as you make them out to be Ike," Taylor argued.

"Okay Tay-don't get so defensive!" Isaac laughed. "So, when's your first date Romeo?"

"For your information, we are just friends, so there may be not 'first date'!"

"Okay, Tay, I'm just giving you a hard time. Calm down!"

"Sorry, Ike. I just hate it when you pick on me!"

"It's okay. I'm sorry, too. Oh, come here and give your big bro a biiiig hug!" Isaac said as he playfully started chasing Taylor with his arms open.

"Stay away from me, Ike. Get a girlfriend!" Tay said, laughing.

"Hey, that reminds me. Did you ever get Sierra's number?"

"Oh, I see how it is. Who was the one just making fun of me for calling a fan?"

"It's not that, Tay, I just feel bad for how rude I was to her. Besides, I just wanna apologize."

"Nope, sorry. I never got her number, but you can call Paige and get it from her."

"That's alright. Just next time you talk to her, ask for Sierra's number for me, -k-?"

"What do I get outta this, huh?"

"Your life," Isaac said jokingly as he grabbed his brother in a choke hold around the neck.

"Okay, Ike, I will."

"I knew you'd see it my way," Isaac said, grinning.

Geez, my brothers are so weird. All they do is talk about girls. I hope i'm not that boring when I get older, Zac thought to himself while getting a glass of water. I mean, the only thing girls are good for is screaming, but then again, there are some hotties out there. Like that girl across the street. "What was her name? I think it was Caley. Man, she's good looking," Zac said aloud. Oooops, Zac thought to himself as he got two confused looks from his older brothers.

What are they looking at? It's not like they don't talk about that stuff all the time. Maybe girls aren't that bad.

"Hey Sierra. Guess what!" Paige ordered once Sierra had picked up the phone.

"What?"

"Tay called me!"

"Really? What happened?!?!" Sierra asked excitedly.

"Nothing!" Paige practically yelled.

"Nothing!?! What do you mean? He didn't even talk?"

"Yeah, sure he talked, but just to see how me and Gramps were doing," Paige explained.

"I'm sorry; maybe he's just shy about asking girls out," Sierra said, trying to make up an excuse and comfort Paige at the same time.

"Yeah, right. He could have any girl he wants. He won't be asking ugly me out any time soon."

"Well, he sure acted like he liked you last week at the hospital."

"You think so? Well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks, Sierra. I'll talk to you later, -k-?"

"Alright. Buhbye!"

"Byeee!"

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Man, I wish Isaac would call me; But like that's ever gonna happen, Sierra thought to herself wistfully as she stared up at the ceiling feeling sorry for herself. All of a sudden, the phone rang!

"AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" she screamed.

Ugh, I'm acting like a little teenybopper, Sierra frowned.

She waited for the phone to ring three times. After all, Sierra didn't want to look desperate. She regained her composure, picked up the phone, and said in her most casual yet cool voice, "Hello?"

"Omigosh Sierra, you'll never believe it!"

It was Paige again.

"What," Sierra replied, not even in question form and with an unexcited voice.

Paige didn't seem to notice. "Isaac called me!" she said excitedly and then paused.

Tears formed in Sierra's eyes. Paige already had Taylor...why did Ike have to go after her too?

".....and he asked me for your number!"

Sierra squealed, jumping up and down. Here I am, acting immature again, she thought disgustedly, Oh well-Ike wants to talk to me! But what if he only wants to gripe me out for "being an obsessed fan".....

"SIERRA!"

"Oh, sorry Paige, I was just thinking."

"Well, did you hear what I said? I told him not to call you."

"You WHAT?!?!?!"

Paige laughed. "There's no reason to be upset, Sierra. I only told him you would call him instead! See, I figured you would be all nervous and wouldn't be able to talk to him. So I simply thought if you called him, then we could both call him on my three-way calling and pretend you were the only one on the phone! That way, you won't have to be so apprehensive because I'll be there for you!"

"Weeeell...somehow, Paige, I think you are only trying to find a way to listen in on our conversation since you're such a nosy butt. But on the other hand, I really could use the support."

"I knew you'd like my idea!"

"Thanks, Paige."

"Sure."

"Now...let's do it!"

Sierra waited impatiently as Paige hung up, redialed Sierra, and then dialed the seven digits that would lead to.....who knows what.

.::Ring::.

.::RRRiiinng!!!::.

"Gosh, is he ever going to pick up the..."

"Hello?" Isaac interrupted Paige, "Umm...did you say something? Hellooo? Who is this?"

Sierra felt sooo stupid. "Oh, ummm...hi. This is Sierra."

"Oh,....hey. Look, I just wanted to apologize for being such a jerk the other night at the hospital. I feel really awful about it."

"Aww...it's not big deal. Don't worry about it."

"No, really. I'm sorry."

"Well...thanks. It's alright. I can understand you're just trying to be careful; that's all."

"Yeah...I always have to look out for Tay. He usually doesn't even talk to fans much other than to say "hi", but, well, he was talking to me about Paige the other day and..."

"Isaac?" Sierra butted in.

"Yeah?"

"Can I call you right back?"

"Uhh...sure. Zoe's crying anyway and I'm home alone so I'll just go and check on her."

"Okay.....talk to ya in a minute."

"Alright."

.::cLiCk::.

Sierra hung up the phone, smiling an evil grin. She had wanted to leave Paige in suspicion about what Tay told Ike about her, so she had disconnected her from three-way.

Before Paige could call her back, Sierra re-dialed Ike's number.

"Hey Sierra," he said. "As I was saying..."

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Isaac grinned. He had talked to Sierra for hours. It was Saturday night. She had called around 9:30, and now it was a little after midnight. They had talked about everything-from their favorite movies to their hopes for the future-even about their favorite stuffed animals as kids. Then Isaac remembered something else, and he blushed. When his mom had gotten home with Tay, Zac, and the rest of the kids besides Zoe, Mackenzie had barged into Ike's room and loudly questioned, "Who ya talkin' to Ike? Your giiirlfrieeend???"

Oh, it had been sooo embarassing. As for right now, Isaac sat on the top bunk of his bed with the cordless phone. Taylor and Zac were sound asleep on the beds below him.

Ike smiled. When Sierra had jokingly (and sleepily) asked him what all the psycho fans wanted to know, boxers or briefs, she had fallen asleep. Her breathing was deep and not exactly quiet, although not a flat out snore, either. And as cute as this was, he was getting bored, "SIERRA!"

Sierra kept breathing deeply. However, he had awakened Taylor.

"Hey. Psst-Tay!"

"Yeah?"

"I was wrong about Sierra after all. Thanks for helping me to understand how dumb I acted towards her."

"Sure, Ike," Tay replied, a devilish look appearing on his face as he turned to look up at Ike from the bottom bunk, "So, when's the honeymoon? Oh, wait, you haven't even had a girlfriend yet!" He laughed as Ike began to hit him with a pillow and practically fell off the bed.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Sierra snorted. She hoped Ike didn't hear her! When he called her name, it had woken her up. She had pretended to still be asleep only to hear Taylor and Ike's interesting conversation.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Isaac tried to defend himself, "Hey-I dated Katie when I was fourteen! You can't forget that!"

"Yeah, yeah. Sure Ike. Whaaaateeeever you say!"

"You know I did, Tay! She thought it was sweet, how in our song 'Stories' I added the part about us on 77th Street from when we were thirteen..."

"Ummm...Isaac? What exactly did happen on 77th Street with you and Katie when you were thirteen...?"

"Don't ask," Isaac said, blushing profusely. When Tay wouldn't drop the subject, Ike threatened to tell Diana about Taylor's little incident with Zac and Tanner in LA when they were recording the MMMBop video with the matches and fireworks..."Okay! I'll go back to bed!" Tay surrendered, dropping his head to the pillow.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Sierra heard Ike pick up the phone and quickly resumed making her sleeping sounds. "Ah-hem, uhh...SIERRA!!!" Ike yelled into her ear.

"Hello? Uhh...Isaac?!?! Was I asleep?" Sierra asked innocently, acting as though she actually had been.

"Yeah!" Ike laughed, not knowing Sierra's little secret. "Sorry to have waken you! Only, I had a great idea!"

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

I jumped out of bed after hanging up the phone with Isaac.

It's 2:30 in the morning! How can I fix myself up? Think, Sierra think! I thought, trying to find some cute clothes and my makeup. Isaac was bored so he came up with the idea that we should sneak out and go to the park. I was nervous yet excited at the same time!

Isaac Hanson invited ME to go somewhere with him...AND he's even risking getting into trouble to do it!
