ARMY MEN Initially, this game is quite cute with it's plastic army men idea. Soon thereafter, you forget about the "plastic" and start playing it as if your units were more real. The game IS quite fun, and at times, VERY difficult, but overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. My personal selection of favorite games include the likes of Command and Conquer, Red Alert, Warcraft, Civilization, etc. Army Men was a good addition to this list. The attention to detail in the graphics is very well done. The little plastic stubs on the bottom of tanks, everything being destroyable.. it's a fun game. It ISN'T the best game in the world, but it is unique. I was initially afraid of buying the game because it boasted only 6 units on the box.. I thought "How boring", but after purchasing and playing, I soon changed my mind. The unfortunate side is that after the eye candy wears off, the game does get boring, especially due to the difficulty of some of the levels. You don't save the games in the middle of the levels.. the beginning, or nothing, baby.. That gets annoying after a while. The controls are keyboard, which I thought could have been better implemented to use the mouse, but once you get used to them, they aren't so bad. All in all, I'd say that if you like C&C or similar games, you'll probably enjoy this title like I have, but you'll get more bored of it and opt for C&C again after a few days... |
