Americian Civil War

This is an excellent game for the game player who prefers strategic decisions to tactical, and for whom the sense of historical accuracy is important.Although the game is historically detailed, there are many more than enough ways to alter conditions to make multiple replays interesting, to test "what if?" theories, and to alter pre-existing conditions. Whether you change or work within historical parameters, there are enough strategic decision options to keep each game new. Both sides (especially the South) have a range of strategic options worth replaying: concentrate on ironclads? Build more railroads? Raid Illinois? Select a different capital? Delay an offensive to train troops? Withdraw demoralized troops? Free the slaves? Pillage captured cities? Stiffen rookie units with veterans? Use brute force or flanking attacks? Players can use historical generals rated historically or whose skills and shortcomings are randomized, only to be discovered the hard way, by watching them perform. There are many similar choices available. I think this is a terrific game. Now, if this company will only do something similar for the Vietnam war.
