Dragon Dice

Ugh! I cringe whenever I see reviews on here that only say "this games sucks" or similar tirades. But after giving Dragon Dice a whirl I can't think of any other way of saying it. Okay, I'll stick to Dragon Dice's middle earth theme: "It doth sucketh". Dragon Dice opens with a pretty good video that attempts to set your mood for the game and then dashes all hope of having anything even near being termed fun. The graphics are the same style ala Civilization II and the sounds are marginal. That's the good news. I am sure that there are many out there who will grab a copy of it based on that alone. But the gameplay....ohhh...the gameplay. Let's see, four races competing for territory with gameplay partly determined by the random throw of a dice. Yep, arm outstretched on your computer screen and it's double snake eyes! Yawn. Uhh, now what? I am not really sure. Complex rules and an abundance of "you can do this but..." Frustration set in after a while and I finally just gave up trying to understand it. The whole concept is a simulation of a board game in the vein of Final Liberation. Unfortunately, unlike Final Liberation, Dragon Dice does little to entertain along the way. Well you do get a set of Dragon Dice with the game. Maybe Interplay included them as a means of escape. When you are sick and tired of the rules of the game and trying to figure out what to do next you can just break out the dice and start up a game the old fashioned way. Beats the PC version I would imagine. Okay, so don't take my word for it. Good luck.
