Final Liberation Epic 40,000 Epic 40000-What can I say about Final Liberation, well obviously I have somting to say or I wouldn't have wrote this review. The first thing to note, and somthing VERY important to note about the game is it is in fact based on EPIC 40,000, a tabletop war game played with painted up minitures, and this goes a long way to explain why the game was designed the way it was. For instance, the table top game itself is turn based, and also, the damage system (chance to hit/kill) is related directly to the tabletop game. SSI and Holistic Design were very clever in the way they did the game engine so not to alienate either an experienced EPIC 40,000 gamer or a hard core stratagy fanatic. One prime example is that all of the roleing (you use dice in the tabletop version) is there, only it is not done in the gamers presence. I Myself play Warhammer 40,000, both of which, Warhammer 40,000 and EPIC 40,000 tabletop games are made by Games Workshop, which is simalar to EPIC 40k, but on a squad base level. I played this game to death for around 6 months and still play it with my brothers and friends around once a week. For a game that only costs around 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of a regular game when uit was first released it was an extremly good buy. It also runs very well on lower grade pentiums. If youu like the game, dont forget to check out a Games Workshop Store as the real thing is just as good as the game, but you have a selection of over half a dozzen races, and games clubs are all around if you look for them. An Aside : Final Liberation was also great in the fact that I didn't have to paint any of the units, and I got a free Spave Marine for Warhammer 40k in the box! |
