Gangsters

Gangster promises a lot but somehow fails to deliver. I found the whole command and control process very difficult to understand and confusing. What you really need is a summary page that tells you everything but you don't get it. Objectives seem to be very unclear from the beginning and just when you think you are doing ok all your mobsters get gunned down in places where you have no control over them. Then you need to replace them but of course you didn't do any recruiting that turn so you can't and by the time you can another gang boss has doubled their power rating miraculously. I found it frustrating that one boss seemed to be in a controlling position within 4 weeks every time I played it. I am sure this could be me if I worked out the exact order in which to do the few controlling factors but why bother? Overall I seem to spend a lot of time waiting in this game without really knowing what's going on. There is a particularly boring picture of a tubby gangster and his moll that is engraved on my mind because I am always looking at it between weeks. I wish I hadn't paid for this and I will be researching more carefully before purchasing in future. I would recommend the old spectrum game Mugsy's Revenge over this anytime
