TV-animation type "Magical Girl, Pretty Samy" is very popular. However, it is often blamed by PTAs and anime fans. TV-Tokyo broadcast the TV series from October 1996 to March 1997. Thereafter TV-Osaka broadcast it from February 1998 to March 1998 as a revival. However TV-Osaka did not broadcast the Tale 19 of "Magical Girl, Pretty Samy." on 03/05/98.
Then a lot of crimes caused by high school students appeared. Minister of Education, Science, Sports and Culture, Mr. Machimura showed Japanese people a message on crimes using survival knives.
What is Pretty Samy (Japanese title: Mahou Shoujo Pretty Samy)?
It is a TV-animation series by TV-Tokyo. It was made for Ms Chisa Yokoyama, a famous and pretty voice actress working for "Banbina." Chisa was born on 12/20/1969 in Tokyo. Her first work was Original Video Animation "Robot Carnival" in 1988. Her height is 160 centimeters and her weight is 42 kilograms. Her blood type is B. She is famous for speaking English. She sometimes works abroad. She played the role of Haruko from Anime Cinema "The Aged Z" by Katsuhiro Ootomo and the role of Sakura Shinguji from "Videogame: Sakura Wars." Her official fan club is "Club Chissa."
Pretty Samy is Sasami Jurai from "No Need For Tenchi." Sasami Jurai is a pretty and gentle character. It was rather popular. Pretty Samy appeared on CD "No Need For Tenchi! Tenchi Kaibyaku Jiku Michiyuki" on 07/24/93. The mutation was not for Sasami but for Chisa Yokoyama.
Thereafter CD "Magical Girl, Pretty Samy. Kurayami wa Darkness. Koi no Whip wa Oazuke!" was on sale on 07/26/95. At last, TV-series started in October 1996.
However in the Pretty Samy series, Sasami is not a magical girl from Jurai but a human being on the earth. Tsunami,a princess from Planet Jurai (CV: Chisa Yokoyama) gave Sasami Kawai a magical baton. Sasami's "Pretty Mutation, Magical Recall" with the baton made her a magical girl "Pretty Samy."
In the series, Tsunami aimed at Jurai Queen. Her rival Ramia (CV: Maya Okamoto) wanted to be Jurai Queen. Therefore she told her younger brother, Rumiya (CV: Mifuyu Hiiragi) to make Ms Misao Amano, Sasami's friend (CV: Rumi Kasahara) transform herself to "Magical Girl, Pixy Misa."
However Pixy Misa's true character was Misao. Pixy Misa meant her true desire.
Pixy Misa made many "Love Love Monsters" to bother Sasami. Sasami and Ryououki (CV: Etsuko Kozakura) fought against Pixy Misa's team. At the start, Sasami did not Misa's true character. Misa often ruined herself. She spoke deformed Japanese using English, for example, "Hi, Samy Chuwaaan! Me No Final Battle Yo!" (Standard Japanese: Ya, Samy-chan, Watashi No Saigo No Tatakai Yo)
The TV series consists of 26 tales. At the start, it was a parody of "No Need For Tenchi" and "Sailor Moon." However in the latter part, the TV-series became serious and tear-jerking.
In the latter part of the original TV-series, Misa's true character appeared. However Sasami helped Misao. Sasami and Misao defeated Tsunami's true enemy "Romio" (CV: Yumi Takada). At last Tsunami was sworn in as the Jurai Queen.
Revival of Pretty Samy
TV-Osaka broadcast the TV series as a revival in 1998. Then the tale 19 was not broadcast.
The tale 19 and the tale 20 meant Misa's true character and the friendship between Misa and Sasami. The two tales were very important.
TV-Tokyo's original broadcast rate point was 6.4 percent on 02/07/97 (Tale 19) and 7.6 percent on 02/14/97 (Tale 20).
The tale 19 "WHEN THE ROSE HAS FALL, THE MAGIC FADE AWAY"
Japanese title: Bara No Hanabira Ga Maiochita Toki, Shizukani Mahou Wa Kieru.
Scenario: Jirou Takayama
Contents: It was Misa's Final Battle. So Misa and Rumiya made rose flower which Misao's father Shigeki, a pianist, liked very much the Hyper Love Love Monster. The pollen made people the evil and fight against each other. However Shigeki came back home from abroad. He appeared on the Pixy Misa. Misa transformed herself to Misao. Then she knew Misa's true character was herself. What is worse, Sasami also knew the fact.
The tale 20 "FRIENDS"
Japanese title: Tomodachi - Mitsumeau Hitomi, Tunagareta Te -
Scenario: Yousuke Kuroda
He wrote he himself cried when he had wrote the scenario.
Contents: Misao escaped and Sasami sought for Misao. At last Sasami found Misao. Sasami wanted to help Misao. Sasami transformed herself to Pretty Samy to go into Misao's mind world. There Sasami defeated the evil magic. Misao thanked Samy. Sasami's father Ginji watched the scene. Thereafter Misao did costume-play of Pixy Misa in order to make herself positive.

TV-Osaka showed these two messages on 03/05/98.
Ginji Kawai is Sasami's father. He has NASA's pilot license and a lot of licenses. He is a young businessman. He knew Samy's true character. However he pretended not to know it. He always watched his daughter beside her. Perhaps he is very great. Please refer to his home education policy.
TV-Osaka should have broadcast the 19 tale.

You know some news were shown on Megumi Hayashibara's engagement on 04/01/98.
On the other hand, a new title of videogame for Sega Saturn "Sakura Wars 2" was released on 04/04/98. Of course, Chisa Yokoyama (28) plays the main role in the game. TV commercial film on the title was broadcast from March to April, 1998. Mr. Hiroshi Fujioka, a famous actor, who formerly played the role of Takeshi Hongou from Shoutarou Ishimori's Maskman Rider, appeared on the CF. In the same film, Chisa Yokoyama appeared. Chisa Yokoyama did masker as the main character, Sakura Shinguji. Perhaps, it was the first case that the main CV of a videogame advertises it by appearing on its CF. In May 1998, a musical "Sakura Wars" will be released. In the play, Chisa Yokoyama will play the role of Sakura. In this summer, "A Popular Song Show by Imperial Revue Troupe" (Second Show) is scheduled. Of course, Chisa Yokoyama will join it.
