DOWN WITH ARIMA, A Kare-Kano Page
Hideaki Anno's New Work is"Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou" which is broadcast by TV-Tokyo since October 1998.
On 10/02/1998, TV-Tokyo started Hideaki Anno's New Anime "Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou" at last. A lot of anime fans in Japan have been looking forward to seeing it for a long time. These two years Hideaki Anno made real performance films rather than anime.
This work is his new age anime which is different from his former works.

2. Producers
Great Producer Toshimichi Outsuki had several projects on anime titles. He is very young but older than I. However he has produced a lot of popular anime titles. He is an executive of King Records. King Records have sold anime LDs and anime sound track CDs for many years. Executive Outsuki is the leader of Starchild label of King Records.
As you read my EVA site, he produced EVA and EVA movies.
On the other hand, he produced "UTENA" "Nadesico" and "Cyber Team in Akihabara."
Toei produced "Nadesico" movie and began to make "UTENA" movie and "Cyber Team in Akihabara" movie. Outsuki works for these three projects as a producer.
His latest work is this title.
He has another anime company "Ganges." As you know, Ganges produced "Cyber Team in Akihabara." This time Ganges produces Anno's new title.
Producers of the anime are Mr. Toshimichi Outsuki, Ms Noriko Kobayashi and Mr. Takayuki Yanagisawa.
J.C.Staff and GAiNAX make Anno's new work as animation.
As you know, J.C.Staff made "Utena." Hideaki Anno still works for GAiNAX.

3. Hideaki Anno
In 1980s great anime director Mamoru Oshii made a lot of anime titles. Anime directors at present have mimed his works to make their own works. Therefore they cannot overcome Oshii's method.
For example, Mr. Kunihiko Ikuhara made "UTENA." As you know, he was an animator for Toei Douga company (It is renamed as Toei Animation at present). He was one of directors that made "Sailor Moon." It is true that he became a famous dirctor but he cannot overcome Oshii's method.
Mr. Hideaki Anno is older than Ikuhara.
Asahi Newspaper publishes a weekly magazine "AERA." AERA 08/31/1998 issue dealt with an interview with Hideaki Anno.
As you know, he is 180 cm tall. He is a kind of giant for normal Japanese.
He always fears something. But he himself is a kind of fear.
He was born in 1960 in Ube city, Yamaguchi Prefecture. In his childhood, Ube city has shipyards. His inside proto-landscape is like such a shipyard, say, NERV base. (Faculty of Medicine, Yamaguchi University is located at Ube city.)
His father Takuya Anno lost his left leg like Touji Suzuhara.
Hideaki Anno fears animal. Therefore he is a vegetarian.
He said, "I cannot break my own heart shell. However I think I can enlarge it because I completed EVA."
He is shy in fact.
He made EVA as his private anime. After EVA, he escaped from work. He tried to kill himself. In order not to kill himself, he had to live at the building of GAiNAX, Musashino-city, Tokyo.
But he lost his everything because he wasted out his all inside to make EVA.
He began to see real performance. He saw high school girls. He made a real performance movie "Love and Pop." Of course its original novel was written by Mr. Ryu Murakami. The famous novelist also has his own homepage. (As you know, Touji Suzuhara and Kensuke Aida were named after characters who appeared at Ryu Murakami's novel "Ai To Gensou No Fascism.")
He had to make robot anime to feed money to GAiNAX. He had to make real performance to survive. And Anno began to make anime for little girls.

4. Basic Data on Broadcasting and Staff
"Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou" (Kare-Kano) is broadcast from 18:30 to 19:00 JST every Friday by TV-Tokyo. Of course, Osaka people can watch the program by TV-Osaka.
As you know, Ms Atsuko Enomoto played the role of the heroine Yukino Miyazawa from Kare-Kano. She used to write down her die-hard fans' BBS. In the BBS,, she said, "You had better watch the program since 18:25!"
Voice actors in Kare-Kano appear at the real performance film since 18:25. They are Chihiro Suzuki, Maria Yamamoto, Yuki Watanabe, and Atsuko Enomoto.
Kare-Kano showed its pre-view since 18:25 every Friday on TV-Tokyo.
On the other hand, TV-Tokyo homepage explains the outline of the program. Hideaki Anno makes his first anime for little girls. However the original cartoon came from Monthly LaLa. Anno would read LaLa by preference.
TV-Tokyo called the work a high-tensioned and natural school love comedy.

7. Hideaki Anno's New Style
In his new title, he uses performance films and printing types.
As you know, Director Yoshitaka Fujimoto made Nuku-nuku. In his works, Fujimoto made his own letter-using anime style. Fujimoto used handwriting.
This time Anno used a lot of letters. Anno's bold Mincho type was used. Anno likes printing types.
He used them to express characters' inside and high school life.
This time Anno used amateur voice actors to express high school life.
Moreover the preview was not anime but a real performance film.
Many Anno fans were excited, of course. We Japanese are looking forward to waiting for the next act.
In the preview, the small left pretty girl is Ms Maria Yamamoto. She is 17 years old. She plays the role of Miyazawa's youngest daughter Kano.
The tall right pretty girl is Ms Yuki Watanabe. She plays the role of Tsukino Miyazawa, an elder sister of Kano.
