Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou



Hideaki Anno's New Work is"Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou" which is broadcast by TV-Tokyo since October 1998.

On 10/02/1998, TV-Tokyo started Hideaki Anno's New Anime "Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou" at last. A lot of anime fans in Japan have been looking forward to seeing it for a long time. These two years Hideaki Anno made real performance films rather than anime.
This work is his new age anime which is different from his former works.


. 40. What is Apple Koucha?

Now (01/29/99) Act 18.0 of Kare-Kano was broadcast in Tokyo and Osaka.
By the way, in the Act 13.0, Tsubasa Shibahime drank a canned tea.
In Tsuda's original cartoon, Tsubasa drank a canned tea "Suntory Pekoe Tea." But in Anno's anime, Tsubasa drank a canned tea "UCC's Apple Koucha."
Perhaps you can hardly obtain UCC's Apple Koucha. Most of shops and stores in Japan do not deal with the canned tea. I could obtain one at Hongo, Tokyo. The vendering machine is located near "Kadokawa Hongou Building" at Hongo, Tokyo.
It is a kind of apple tea. But it is not very sweet. Of course it includes apple flavor. One can includes 34cl of apple tea. The price is 120 yen.

The red can is also called "Laceby Hall." The Laceby Hall has five golden rules.
  1. "Jumping" using fresh boiled water.
  2. "Apple Flavor" giving acid and sweet flavor.
  3. "Soft Water" extraction using soft water suitable for black tea.
  4. "Steaming"
  5. "Sri Lanka Tea Leaf"


. 41. Act 13.0 "ShiawasenoShukan (The subject of the happiness)"

Act 13.0 of Kare-Kano was braodcast on 12/25/98 in Tokyo and Osaka.
First, Playback was shown. The playback was also a film on Tsubasa Shibahime. But the narration dealt with all the stories.

Tsubasa's memory. The memory in her childhood. Kimiko Higuchi's painting art explained Tsubasa's memories.
Her father Toshiharu Shibahime is a designer of dress for children. When he designed dresses as his work, he had made dresses for his daughter.
Tsubasa stayed at Yukino's house. The next morning, Tsubasa and Maho still stayed there. Maho Izawa helped Yukino's mother Miyako when Miyako prepare breakfast. When Yukino's father Hiroyuki saw five young girls there at the breakfast, he was much impressed. He said, "I would like to have an additional two or three children." At his background, a lot of padded coats appeared. Yukino interrupted. "You will not always have a daughter."
Tsukino and Kano did not want to have any more sisters.
"You should fit their names to each other..."
Their irresponsible proposals showed the following examples.
  1. "Riku, Kai, Ku" (Land, Sea and Air)
  2. "Seigi, Yujou, Shouri" (Justice, Friendship and Victory)
  3. "Kouichi and Tsuyoshi" (These names are based on Kinki Kids, singers in Japan.)
    From the "Ai To Makoto" they proposed words that include a Japanese word "TO."
  4. "Ai To Makoto" (Love and Faith, a title of an old cartoon in Japan.)
  5. "Hana To Yume" (Flower and Dream, a title of a cartoon magazine for girls.)
  6. "Ten To Chi To" (Heaven and Earth, a title of an old novel in Japan.)
  7. "Roujin To Umi" (The Old Man and The Sea, a title of Ernest Hemingway's novel.)
  8. "Romio To Juliet" (Romio and Juliet, a title of Shakespeare's tragedy.)
  9. "Tsuki To Suppon" (The moon and a Suppon turtle, a proverb in Japan.)
  10. "Man To Hihi" (Hamadryad)
  11. "Jack To Mame No Ki" (Jack and the Beanstalk)
  12. "Fit To Nesu" (Fitness)
  13. "Mat To Undou" (Floor Exercise)
  14. "Kon To 55 Gou" (Conte No.55, an old comedians in Japan)
  15. "Enomo To Atsuko" (Atsuko Enomoto, a voice actress)
Maho was surprised at such proposals.
Suddenly Tsubasa went home after breakfast. She said, "That easy papa did not yield for the first time. So I never do anything but give up."
Tsubasa walked alone. Director Anno expressed Tsubasa's emotion using monochromatic real photographs. He superimposed Tsubasa's cellophane pictures on such real photographs.
Tsubasa arrived at her house. Her father waited. He did not change his yesterday clothes. (At Tsuda's original cartoon, he changed his clothes.)
Tsubasa thought. "It makes no difference to me."
Tsubasa and Tsubasa's father were scheduled to meet Hiromi's son Kazuma at an exclusive hotel. It was a high rise. Director Anno expressed the height using monochromatic real photographs. Tsubasa's father tensed very much. Tsubasa, Tsubasa's father and Ms Ikeda took seats.
Thereafter Mr. Kazuma Ikeda appeared.
His hair was bleached. It was called "Patsu-kin."
His pendant was an iron skull. (It is rather popular in Japan. But at Tsuda's original cartoon, the pendant was a cross.)
Shibahime and her father were much shocked. Especially Toshiharu frightened.
Then Kazuma mistook. He regared Tsubasa as a little child. Therefore he smiled. Tsubasa went backward. Moreover Tsubasa panicked.





She thought he would rape her...

A kind of noise interrupted her words.

She looked a pessimist. But in the next moment, when she found dessert, she forgot her bad destiny.
Then Kazuma mistook again. Kazuma gave her his dessert. He said, "What a man! Mother, you find a good partner. I agree. Moreover I have a pretty younger sister."
Kazuma regarded Tsubasa as a junior high school student or an elementary school pupil. In fact, Tsubasa was older than Kazuma.
Tsubasa got angry gradually.

 What? The hotel was destroyed by explosion of an atomic bomb. Tsubasa's anger was expressed as the explosion of an atomic bomb.
Tsubasa's father panicked. "Tsbasa raged!"
The screen was snow-white.
Thereafter a telop was run.

 Thereafter an elephant picture appeared with the same telop.

After a few days, a city landscape was shown. Monochromatic real photographs. (But those were pictures of Shibuya (Tokyo) in November 1998. There were a lot of advertisements of Sega dreamcast.)
An middle-aged tried to rape Tsubasa. Then Kazuma saw her fighting. Kazuma protected her. The two went together.
The two stayed on a pedestrian bridge. Kazuma drank a canned coffee "UCC Guaruja."
On the other hand, Tsubasa drank a canned tea "UCC Apple Koucha."
(At Tsuda's original cartoon, Kazuma drank a canned Coca-cola and Tsubasa drank a canned tea "Suntory Pekoe.")
Kazuma said, "I've wanted to apologize you from that day on."
He wanted brothers. He yearned for the relation that one care another and that one was cared by another. When she heard it, she decided to go to Kazuma's house.
The house was a room of a government-built apartment complex. It was very small. There was rubbish in front of the entrance.

 They shared their domestic duties. She remebered the scene. Kazuma said, "When I stay with you, I get myself together."
Tsubasa thought. "No wonder you felt so because we pass the same days."
Kazuma said, "Now we are nothing less than brothers."
When I arrived home, no one waited for me. I knew the loneliness. In fact, I felt lonely as I stayed alone.

In the evening, the kitchen was cleaned. Then Hiromi Ikeda came back. Hiromi said at the entrance, "It's unusual for you to prepare supper." But in the next moment Hiromi found his son eat supper with Tsubasa. Hiromi was shocked. She said, "Tsubasa is a lady at the residential area. You Cockroach Monkey must not bring her to this kennel. Fool!" She hit him and used martial arts of professional wrestling to him.

 A telop was run. "Good mothers should not follow the behavior."

Thereafter she came to herself. "Boy, what an immodest behavior..."
Tsubasa said, "Are you a dissembler?"
Hiromi said, "Are you disappointed?"
Thereafter Toshiharu came there to meet Tsubasa.
Tsubasa said to Hiromi, "You just fit for a 'Po-yan greenhorn' like my papa, as I saw your way. I leave him entirely to you."

 We decided to be happy. The next day they were married. The four began to live together.

 The day Kazuma and Hiromi moved to Toshiharu's house, musicians who were friends of Kazuma came there. Kazuma said, "Bad matter. Keep close, Tsubasa." He protected Tsubasa.
In the ending, theme music did not include vocals.
