Jeet Kune Do has been reveled as one of, if not, the best martial art in the world. There are certain things that make JKD stand out among the rest. Bruce Lee was the biggest obviously, but it's what he did that made this art sought after by almost every martial artist out there. The key to a good defense is having a good offense, so here are JKD's 5 ways of attack.

• SDA (Single Direct Attack)--
  The SDA is simple to do, but one the most important of the 5 ways of attack. In this way of attack, you simply strike the opponent, quickly and efficiently. Some of the most common forms of SDA are the backfist, the jab, and even the lead shin/knee kick.
  

• ABC (Attack By Combination)--
  ABC is as simple as it sounds. You attack by throwing a combination of strikes. Example combos are the 1-2-3 (jab-cross-hook), lead shin/knee kick to round kick, etc.
  

• ABD (Attack By Drawing)--
  ABD is a little more complicated. You intentionally leave an opening in your defenses or leave some limb vulnerable to attack in order to draw your opponent into making a predictable attack which you can in turn counter. Like baiting a fish hook.
  

• HIA (Hand Immobilization Attack)--
  In HIA you trap one or more of your opponents possible defenses, i.e. arm, leg, etc. HIA is often found under attack (of being useless) by those who cannot get it to work for them. You can pak, lop, tek, etc.. in order to get through your opponents defenses. This is a devistating method of attack!
  

• PIA (Progressive Indirect Attack)--
  \ The PIA is usually considered one of the most advanced of the 5 ways of attack. With this method you feint at one or more targets on your opponent in order to "fake out" your opponent and attack the intended target without withdrawing your attacking weapon. Examples are.. feint eyejab to shin/knee kick, jab to feint hook to uppercut, etc.
  

  **Keep in mind that the idea is to intertwine and connect all of the 5 ways of attack. Using them together and without thought is what makes a great fighter. All of the 5 ways take alot of diligent practice.. and are WELL worth having a fluid understanding of. Keep up the practice!
