JEET KUNE DO HAMMER PRINCIPLE

The Jeet Kune Do Hammer Principle is a principle that uses a slight of hand technique. The Hammer Priniple is an original Bruce Lee fighting philosophy, commonly used to get past your opponents defenses faster and without oposition. The principle's main focus is the elbow. To get a better idea of how the principle works, it is commonly used with eye gouge and lead punch techniques.
You will begin in the JKD ready position.. strong side forward. Your lead arm will be slightly bent, aimed towards your opponent. The concept of the principle is to shorten the distance between your hand and the target. Your elbow will remain in the same position, almost motionless. Your hand will creep forward like you were using a hammer. It will go almost un noticed, however your hand has closed the gap by about 6 to 8 inches. If you understand the principles and technicalities of the one-inch punch and the lead straight, your power during the strike will not be diminished and you will seem so much faster.
It is true that Bruce Lee had phenomenal speed and acuracy, however it was techniques like this that gave him the intimidating advantage of speed he had over other opponents and his students. You will be absolutely amazed at the ways it will improve your "speed."
