Before anything else, I suggest you read a little something I compiled to understand Gundam more clearly.

Universal Century, the beginning of Gundam

As all we Gundam Wing(GW) fans know... Duo seems like the most popular so, why not Heero for a change? *LoL* Anyway, for those who never heard of Heero or Gundam Wing, here's something for starters.  Gundam is a type of robot (more like a super robot) made of some alloy called Gundanium (hence the name). The show basically revolves around 5 15 year old Gundam pilots who all seem to have mental disorders. Each of them live in space colonies which are pretty chaotic due to the interferance of peace by the Federation and OZ. OZ is a secret organization within the Federation. These two groups manufacture Mobile Suits(robots) and use it to conquer the world and the colonies.

Anyway, the 5 pilots' missions are mostly to destroy Mobile Suit factories and sabotoge other projects and operations done by OZ. At the start of the series, most of the fighting is done on Earth but starting volume 8 or 9 (I think) the fighting is done in space and in the colonies. The funny thing here is that at first, the Gundam pilots kind of fought each other because each thought the other was the enemy. The story just goes on and on and new things come up. The entire series is about 49 epesodes long and an OVA was produced called ENDLESS WALTZ. I unfortunately can't say anything regarding that yet because I only have 2 epesodes and it has 3 ;_;. If you still find this pretty confusing, just check the computer for more info.

Since Gundam (the main series... there are several) started around 1979, they are having this BIG celebration so they came up with the "GUNDAM BIG BANG PROJECT" and it started this year. Last August, Sunrise produced 2 Gundam movies, Gundam 08th MS team and Gundam Wing (A compilation of ENDLESS WALTZ). Well, the truth is that I hardly know anything about this so don't kill me!

Here's a short synopsis of the story taken from the start of the first few epesodes.

Generations ago, with a great dream for the future, humankind departed from planet Earth seeking a new life in space colonies. But as time passed by, the World Federation brought the colonies under it's control one after another, using its over military power under the name of peace and justice.

After Colony, Year 195, the beginning of Operation Meteor. It was  secret operation by a few colonies which tried to stand against the Federation. The operation was to secretly smuggle specially camouflaged combat weapons into Earth. However, the operation has been detected by the Federation leaders.
