only used in the first fight in which Sanosuke is introduced and once very
briefly in his recent fight with Inui Banjin

Sanosuke was
formerly the street-fighter Zanza, but he reformed fighting Kenshin. When
he was a child, he was part of the Sekihoutai, a unit under the Ishin Shishi
that was used by the government as scapegoats. His role model was Sagara
Souzou, the captain of the Sekihoutai, who was killed by the Ishin Shishi.
(As you may have guessed, Sanosuke took the last name "Sagara" in honor
of his Sagara-taichou (Sagara Souzou). Sanosuke wanted to kill Kenshin,
the strongest of the Ishin Shishi, but realized that Kenshin was like Sagara
in the way that he dreamed of a new era of peace and equality. Now Sanosuke
is Kenshin's best friend, who often hangs out at the dojo to mooch some
free food (though he claims that Kaoru's cooking is terrible ^^;;). |
