Neon Genesis Evangelion is probably the most profound, controversial, and thought-provoking anime that I have ever seen (not to mention the best animated...)! While on the outside it seems like "just another mecha cartoon", Neon Genesis Evangelion proves to be SO much more. The story tells the tale of Shinji Ikari, a 14 year old loner, abandoned by his father at a young age, and the drama of his battle against the enemies simply reffered to as the "Angels", piloting the bionoid Evangelion, created by his father. He meets many challenges with the people that he meets. Misato Katsuragi, the out going sexy 29 year old Captain, Asuka Langely Soryuu, the arrogant pilot of Evangelion Unit 02, the mysterious Rei Ayanami, silent pilot of Evangelion Unti 00, and his father Gendou Ikari, Shinji's ultimate enemy. I can't say enough about the series except SEE IT... NOW!! I eagerly await the movies coming courtest of Manga Entertainment. |
