The Japanese Language:
These are some words that are given at the beginning of the subtitled versions of Sailor Moon. They are given to help the English viewer better understand the puns in the episndes. The following are from the second, third, and fourth tapes of the Sailor Stars Series.
- To have a small face: a person is nice looking
- Pupils not in a club are called members of the go-home club
- Nezu is short for nezumu, which means mouse
- Tsukimi means watching the moon(this relates to a scene where Seiya calls Usagi 'Tsukimi Usagi'; there's a custom to eat dumplings while watching the moon, which is what 'Tsukimi Usagi' almost translates to)
- Youth's Perspiration stands for youth sports activites
- A red mark is a failing grade in high school
- Test results are out of 100%
- Amanegawa means Milky Way
- Anko is a traditional sweet, a mixture of crushed red beans and sugar
- Chuu is the Japanese word for the sound a mouse makes. Iron Mouse commanly uses this word while talking
- Sempai is someone older than you
- Senpai is a personal mentor
- In Japan, garbage is seperated by wether or not it's flammable
- A macow(chameleon) is often trained to sit on the back of hands
- Surprising Camera is a TV show(like Candid Camera) that suprises civilians and the stars
- Sudako is octopus soaked in vinegar; it's commanly eaten as a snack
