A long time ago, there was a war going on in a country called Kutou. It swept through the village of Tenryou-shi in the area of Sanun-shou leaving a trail of dead bodies behind. Two of these people were the parents of the little twins Koutoku and Shunkaku Bu. War had taken them from their parents when they were young, which is why Amiboshi abhors war. Amiboshi raised his younger twin, and though they're very close, they're very different. Amiboshi plays the flute, and loves to compose music, while Suboshi, the younger twin, is more into excercising. Amiboshi is frequently referred to as "the good twin". He's warm hearted, and polite, and though he's a Seiryuu Seishi, he lacks the malice and cunning that the others tend to have. He secretly loves Miaka and even after what happened during the Suzaku ceremony, the collected Suzaku Seishi still consider him one of their buddies. Suboshi, on the other hand, is not as mature as his brother, and lacks self control. He's very passionate about what he loves, which includes Yui and his brother. While his devotion to Yui and Amiboshi is very admirable, Suboshi's lack of self control can turn devotion into mania. He's vengeful, spiteful, and does not forgive anyone that hurts Yui or his brother, even if it's proven that the reason they got hurt was someone else's fault.

Amiboshi's flute is more than an instrument of pleasure. Though it can calm and put children to sleep it's also a deadly weapon. Thru his flute, Amiboshi emits and controls ki, or life force energy also known as chi that can harm people. Suboshi's weapon of choice are two spinning balls strung on a string. He calls them ryuuseisui and he controls them by mind control. Both twins can communicate through long distances, as well as feel each other's chi.
