ASHITARE
Ashitare's character is "bi" or "tail" appears on the right side of his back. He is half human/half wolf, stong and agile. His human half was killed by Nuriko(after Ashitare impaled him with his claws) but his wolf form was killed by Nakago since there was no use of him. Before he was killed, he stole the Shinzaho from Miaka for Nakago. Ashitare was born in a prison colony and abandoned by his parents because of his appearance. Nakago treats him cruely such as whipping him or chaining him when he has nothing to do. You can't really hate Ashitare since he never chose to become evil, and in his howl is not only the hunting cry of a wolf, but the piteous wail of a human who has nothing to live for.
