Ranma ½ / Aa! Megami-sama: Kasumi's Wish Chapter Seven

Though the day was bright and clear, a very odd-looking dark cloud hung in the skies overhead. More accurately, that particular cloud hovered high above the Tendou Training Hall.

A whitish/golden haired female sat upon one of the various telephone poles overlooking the Nerima District of Tokyo.

The people that passed by paid little heed to Mara. Most were busy minding their own business. The few that happened to look up and in her direction did not notice the leather jacket wearing female sitting high above the ground simply due to a spell the demon had cast around herself called, obfuscation.

*That, Saotome Ranma, is an omen of what's to come. You will soon learn to fear Mara. When you do, there won't be a god or goddess that can save you,* she thought before hopping down from the pole. The instant her foot touched the sidewalk, Mara's figure started to morph. Where there was once the seductive Demon First Class, in her place stood a girl slightly above five feet with long green hair and blue eyes. Her clothing started to change as well. Her leather jacket and current apparel dissolved for a brief moment. After a second of concentration, Mara appeared to be in a nice Sunday Dress. Strolling down the street, Mara smiled in satisfaction as the men and women all bought into her disguise. Where there was once a Demon First Class, now stood a very striking young girl around the age of sixteen.

      *Time for Stage One.*

-----

Inside a small, empty room, a young man rested. The decision was not totally his. On his forehead was a washcloth and next to the bed was a basin.

"Happy New Year, Kasumi-chan," Ranma muttered in his sleep yet no one was around to hear it and the dreamer would forget after waking up.

-----

"Do you know how much it will cost to get the wall fitted after you threw that boulder into the training hall?" Nabiki asked Akane, a bit peeved. "Money don't grow on trees you know." *With Otousan not working and the training hall having no students, I'm the one who has to find a way to make ends meet.* she thought, a little darkly. *Now I have to find a way to make enough to feed two more people.*

"Gomen. It was just that when I saw Ranma touching Kasumi, I lost my temper. You know how boys are. They're all perverts!" Akane said, the last part was filled with anger. *Why can't any of the boys at school act like Doctor Tofu, when Kasumi was not around.*

Nabiki sighed after hearing her younger sister's explanation. *Can I blame her? It's partly my fault she feels this way towards boys. Well, just a little. Kunou is the main cause of Akane hatred towards boys.* "Just please try to be more careful next time, okay, sis?" Nabiki asked.

      "Hai."

"Anyways, if my nose is working right, breakfast should be ready soon. Let's head downstairs," Nabiki suggested.

-----

Many people have sworn that when a male Saotome slept, nothing short of a World War that would wake one up. Well actually there was, food.

There are three main ideals that a Saotome live by: Eat when you can, sleep if you get the chance and martial arts shall be thy life. At least this was true when Saotome Genma was your teacher.

A part of Ranma's brain was on standby when the sweet aroma of food drifted into the room. Bolting upright and suffering unimaginable pain from the maneuver, it did not stop Ranma from sensing that food was being prepared somewhere close to his vicinity. Struggling to his feet, Ranma let out a groan before continuing his search for something to eat.

"What hit me?" Ranma asked himself, wondering how he was knocked unconscious. Maybe it was the migraine pounding inside his head, meeting his new fiancée or fiancées, until he picked one, or one of many other crazy events that had happened to him since he arrived in Nerima but he was not able to sense the approach of someone behind him.

Smiling, *Before I let you take my sister, I'm going to make sure you are worthy enough,* thought Nabiki. "I'll tell you for five hundred yen," she offered the young martial artist.

"Arg!" Ranma shouted. The sudden appearance of the middle Tendou daughter did many things to Ranma, all painful. His headache had increased. He was a little weak after the sudden adrenaline rush left his system. Worse of all, his pride was wounded. A girl was able to sneak up on him, unaware. "Don't do that!" he yelled, increasing the pounding in head once again. *Should have stayed in bed but I'm so hungry!*

With a smirk, "You mustn't be that good a martial artist if I could sneak up on you," Nabiki stated, having missed Ranma's morning practice session.

Ranma slowly walked past Nabiki, grunting a reply as he passed by. Heading straight into the bathroom, not caring if it was occupied or not, he picked up a bucket and filled it with cold water. Seconds later, water flooded the floor as Ranma placed his head into the cold water. During his ten years long training trip, Ranma had rarely visited the doctor, or took medication. He and his father had relied on herbs they found and cold water to cure his headaches.

-----

Hopping up into one of the trees, overlooking the Tendou backyard and dinning room, Mara sat on a branch. *I wonder what this Ranma looks like,* she thought, having only skimmed her assignment.

-----

Downstairs, everyone had gathered at the table except Ranma. Noticing this, Kasumi turned and asked Akane to go get him.

Feeling a little ashamed at destroying the training hall and messing up her older sister's moment with her fiancée, Akane was about to get up when Nabiki spoke.

"I don't think that would be a good idea. Ranma wasn't feeling very well a few minutes ago," Nabiki answered.

"Oh my! I hope he's okay," Kasumi spoke. *Strange, I've seen Ranma get hit by larger objects and just shrug it off,* she thought before figuring it out. *Akane's constant abuse was like the Breaking Point training for Ranma. Poor Ranma. Ryouga was only hurt physically, but Ranma was hurt emotionally as well from the training.*

No one but Nabiki noticed the slight change in Kasumi's attitude when she started to bring out the food and discovered Ranma's absence. *Did Kasumi have a thing for Ranma or was it just her material instincts making her worry about another person?* Nabiki wondered. The more she thought, the more she was sure her older sister did have feelings for the young Saotome. *What is so special about Ranma?* she thought. All Nabiki could figure out was that Ranma appeared at their door two days ago and Kasumi was falling for Ranma faster than the stock market during a recession. *He's supposed to be a great martial artist. I'm wondering just how good,* she pondered, still mostly in the dark about Ranma's skills. In Nabiki's mind, she was thinking about the odds if for some reason Ranma should find himself fighting Kunou. *If I give him twenty-five to one odds, some of the lower classmen might vote for Ranma.* Deep in thought, Nabiki failed to notice Ranma coming down the stairs or Kasumi's reaction once she saw him.

*What a headache,* she thought. *She didn't have to throw that boulder at me.* Onna-Ranma was a little irritated. Though getting hit by a heavy and large piece of rock was not high on her list of things she wanted to experience, what was grating on her nerve was that for some reason she felt like she was forgetting something. What, Onna-Ranma could not figure out.

"Ranma-kun, is everything alright?" Kasumi asked, seeing the red head coming down the stairs.

Nabiki, Akane and Soun stared at Onna-Ranma. They still hadn't gotten use to the fact that the male Ranma and this red headed girl were one and the same.

Mara was confused. *I thought Ranma was male?* she thought. Getting herself under control, Mara grimaced a bit. Seducing a girl was going to be a lot harder than a boy.

Pondering and wondering what this nagging memory was all about, Onna-Ranma just answered automatically. "I'm fine, Kasumi-chan," Onna-Ranma replied, still lost in thought. It was not until he heard the sound of wailing and his father patting him on the back did he take notice of what was happening around him. *What happened?* he thought.

Nabiki was looking at Onna-Ranma with a raised eyebrow. *Kasumi-chan? Sh . . . He sure does work fast.*

Akane was in shocked then angry. *Why that Casanova, trying to seduce Kasumi. She can't like him. He's younger than her, immature and . . . What about Doctor Tofu?* Thinking about the older doctor, Akane blushed.

Genma was grinning. *I knew engaging Ranma to one of Tendou's daughters was a good idea,* he thought, dismissing the multitude of other arrangements he had made over the ages.

"Wah! Our two family will be joined!" Soun wailed, happily.

Kasumi blushed, "Oh my!" *I should slow things down. This might be a bit sudden for Ranma-kun,* she thought. Looking at Onna-Ranma, Kasumi noticed that he was clueless as to what everyone was talking about.

"Huh, what's going on?" Onna-Ranma asked a bit confused after seeing the chaos around her. For the first time since arriving down stairs, Onna-Ranma noticed the sudden increase in pitch of her voice. Looking down at her chest, Onna-Ranma groaned.

Smiling, Kasumi got up and went into the kitchen to retrieve the hot water she had prepared for Ranma. *Things are getting back to normal,* she thought happily. True peace and quiet were a rare commodity after Ranma had arrived over a year ago in her own time, but the fact was Kasumi wouldn't want it any other way. Exiting the kitchen, she glanced at the calendar, *Ryouga will be arriving in a few days. I wonder what will happen now that Ranma-kun is engaged to all three of us?* she pondered, while handing the kettle to Onna-Ranma.

"Thanks, Kasumi," Ranma said, missing the subtle signs that he had disappointed her in some way. Pouring the heated water over his head brought wonderment to many faces. The transformation was quick. Onna-Ranma's hair darkened, changing from red to black and grew more than a couple of inches. Her breasts shrunk and his physique broadened.

This transformation was not lost on Mara as she fell from her seat on the branch and landed on her behind. After recovering, Mara got peeved. Snapping her fingers, a folder materialized in her right hand. Scanning the documents, one Demon First Class got very angry. It seemed that there were a few things missing from the profile of Saotome Ranma. There were no reports about what happened to Ranma when he was six and the past six months. *Strange,* Mara thought.

Kasumi pouted softly in disappointment. *I shouldn't feel disappointed that he didn't refer to me as Kasumi-chan. He's only been here two days and it took Ranma over a year and a half to just tell Akane he liked her. Too bad that relationship didn't work out,* she thought, though she could not deny the fact that part of her was happy Akane was not engaged to Ranma now.

Still staring at the now male Ranma, Nabiki pondered what was it about the younger Saotome that caught Kasumi's attention. Taking her eyes off of Ranma, Nabiki scanned the room trying to gauge everyone's reaction at Ranma's statement and sudden transformation. Looking at the two adults, she just shook her head. *Those two are overreacting,* she thought. Turning to the youngest Tendou, Nabiki was surprised to see Akane blushing. *Akane can't have fallen for Ranma as well. She hates boys.* Returning her attention to Ranma, *What is so special about you, Ranma? You're handsome and well built but that just can't be all or Kasumi would never have even thought twice about you.* Getting a little irritated at not finding the solution to the present enigma, Nabiki smiled. *I wonder just how much money your pictures would bring in.* Feeling guilty for only a few moments, *I do have to find a way to pay for two more people and Ranma is technically my fiancée as well as Kasumi's until he decides,* Nabiki reassured herself.

Seeing the smile on Nabiki's face, Kasumi frowned a bit but knew that this was the only source of income holding for the Training Hall since their father was not teaching anymore.

Looking up at the clock, Nabiki bolted up and out the door. "We're late!" she shouted behind her.

Soon Akane was running after Nabiki shouting for her to wait up.

Handing Ranma a school bag containing a couple of books, "Have fun at school," Kasumi said.

Looking at Kasumi's face, Ranma just nodded. He just couldn't find the heart to disagree with her. Racing out the door, Ranma just hope he could find Akane and Nabiki so that he would not be late for school.

Author Notes:

In the story I used a few endings that some of you might not realize. For example: -kun, -chan, Onna Ranma.

-kun is a kind of reference to someone close, like a sister to a brother or girl friend to boyfriend, always girl referring to boy

-chan means or referring to someone younger, usually a younger sibling. For someone outside the family to use -chan means a close friend of the family like a friend of a father calling the daughter mostly, sometimes the son as a gesture of affection. For two people of the same age to use it means good friends if they are of the same sex, almost always between two female best friend. For a boy to call a girl using -chan is VERY intimate. Usually between couples, fiancée or husband and wife.

Onna Ranma means female Ranma, I feel that Ranma-chan does not, to me, a great way of saying that Ranma is female. Onna in Japanese is girl or female.
