Beauty World is the first Musical in S'pore to be performed by actors and actresses from the Television Corporation Of Singapore. It starred Evelyn Tan as the lead actress and Darren Lim as the lead actor. A host of other stars are also included in this production such

as Sharon Au, Kok Chieng Mun, Jack Neo and Irin Gan. The story is about how a young girl, Ivy Chan Boh Zhu, from Batu Pahat, who found out on her 20th birthday that she was actually adopted by her foster mum and she was handed a Beauty World jade pendant which was left to her by her father. Armed with the jade pendant, she decided to go to S'pore, to look for her father and Beauty World. She found her penpal, Rosemary Joseph and despite Rosemary's objection, Ivy decided to work as a cabaret girl in Beauty World. It was there that she met Ah Hock, a good-hearted gangster who had grown up in Beauty World. With Ah Hock's help, Ivy was able to get to work as a cabaret girl in Beauty World.It was then that she met Lulu. The most popular and the most evil cabaret girl in Beauty World. Lulu disliked Ivy the first time she saw her and swear that she will have a hard time at Beauty World.

Ivy was taught the ropes of becoming a cabaret girl by three kind-hearted cabaret girls, Daisy, Lily and Rosie. But troubles was to arise soon when Ivy's boyfriend Frankie Wong Fei Hong came to S'pore to look for her.But to Frankie's dismay, he couldn't find her at Beauty World and end up finding Rosemary. Meanwhile at Beauty World, Lulu was thinking of spiking Ivy's drink as Towkay Tan was interested in Ivy and was willing to pay Lulu to help him to spike Ivy's drink. They succeeded. But this was all saw by Wan Choo, the servant at Beauty World who told Ah Hock about it. Just when

Towkay Tan was about to undress Ivy, Ah Hock rushed in and saved Ivy from the evil cluthes of Towkay Tan. It was then that Ah Hock found out that he had fallen for Ivy but he dare not tell her about it for fear that Ivy may look down on him. Meanwhile, at Rosemary's home, Frankie and Rosemary was both waiting anxiously for the return of Ivy. Through chatting with Frankie, Rosemary found out that Frankie was actually a great guy and began to fall in love with him. Rosemary then decided to look for Sergeant Muthu to help look for the missing Ivy. Sergeant Muthu, together with Frankie and Rosemary went to Beauty World to look for Ivy but to no avail. It was then that Ivy shows up with Ah Hock and pointed out that Towkay Tan had try to offend her on the other night. It was then that Johnny Quek, owner of Beauty World shows up and told Ivy that he had specially made five Beauty World jade pendants and had given them to four people. The first one was mummy of Beauty World, the second one, Towkay Tan, the third one, Towkay Neo and the fourth one to Lulu. It was then that both Lulu and Ivy found out that they were actually mother and daughter and Ivy's father was actually a Japanese soldier but he could not be found after the war and Lulu had no choice but to give Ivy up. Ivy was shocked to find out that her mother was actually Lulu and decided to return back with Frankie to Batu Pahat leaving the heart-broken Ah Hock and Lulu. Ivy and Frankie got married at Batu Pahat and lived happily ever after while Lulu quitted from Beauty World and joined the Salvation Army. But all was back to usual at Beauty World where the songs still play and the drinks still flow.
