NAME: OTARU MAMIYA, voice actor: Yuka Imai (could be female, so forgive my lack of knowledge)
STATUS: Main character, citizen of Japoness. Wakes 3 sleeping marionettes

Yep, he's the main guy in the show. Not a whole lot of background on him. He works odd jobs after he loses his job delivering fresh fish. He studies martial arts and has a best friend/enemy named Mitsurugi Hanagate.
With the storyline as being an all male populated planet, Otaru has no understanding of females or love. So, he has a tough time when it comes to the Marionettes wanting affection. He isn't gay, but there are no females other than marionettes - and marionettes are not seen as people, they are machines. There is prejudice toward marionettes - especially if you have a relationship with one.
He's an average working class guy... no real friends, but even with things the way they are he still has a rather cheerful personality. He stumbles onto the marionettes and his life becomes a rollercoaster ride.
