Minaguchi Yuko was born on June 26, 1966 in Tokyo. Her given name is Minaguchi Tomoko. She made her anime debut in GREED as Kii Mi. She is Rinary in Final Fantasy and Pan in Dragonball Z.

Other Identities: Princess of the planet Saturn. During S, she was possessed by Mistress 9 after she was killed in an explosion and Professor Tomoe pretty much sold himself and her to the Daimon Master.

Hotaru's mother died when she was young. Her father is Professor Tomoe . He dies in the manga at the end of the S, so the outer senshi step in as Hotaru's substitute parents. In the anime, he doesn't die but becomes weak and prone to mental breakdowns.

Hotaru is shy and sweet. And when possessed by Mistresses of the number 9, incredibly evil. But that's another story for another day. Hotaru's a loner, as the kids at school shun her for her freaky ability to heal people. But that didn't stop Chibi Usa from befriending the strange girl. Polite and kind, Chibi Usa was drawn to Hotaru, despite her… shall we say 'idiosyncrasies' and her very strange family. Hotaru is very frail and weak, which stops her from doing a lot of normal, everyday things, but despite this physical weakness, she is actually the strongest of the senshi and holds the power to destroy the world.

Since Hotaru lived most of her life without friends, Chibi-Usa's offer of friendship became one of the most important things in Hotaru's life. She treasured their friendship and would do anything for Chibi-Usa. Hotaru feels at one point that they shouldn't be friends because she wants to protect Chibi-Usa from the evil in her life, but eventually the two overcome this. Of course, while trying to protect Chibi-Usa, Hotaru ends up turning into Mistress 9, but that's another story…

Among the inner senshi, Hotaru seems to like and care about them a great deal, especially Usagi. The inners are the ones who defend Hotaru, despite the evil within her. With the outers, things don't work as well. When the three become aware of Sailor Saturn's spirit within Hotaru, that is, the senshi of destruction, they are prepared to destroy her, especially because of her association with the Death Busters. But eventually, they open up to Hotaru, and in the manga they become like her parents.
