Chapter 14, Tidings of Doom



Ryo looked down at the sword in his hand. He knew what he had to do, it was prophesied. He had seen it in his visions it must be true.

"I can't do it!" Ryo screamed into the darkness. A hollow pale voice answered.
"It is unavoidable, it is your destiny. You have seen this you know it to be true."

"I have seen many things, and not all were true."
"You will do this, If you honor his friendship, If you honor what he fought for, and if you wish to save him you will do this."

"There has to be another way!"
"There is no other way, except that which will lead into darkness."
"Noooo!!" Ryo screamed as he jumped up in bed. He looked down at his hand, it was empty.

"I have no choice." Ryo sighed. "My fate is sealed, I am the visionary who saves with death."

Kioku was silent and in deep thought. Dressed in black he appeared much older and more care worn. "I will avenge your grandfather." Kioku thought to himself as he held out his chopsticks to receive the first of Master Hikari's bones.


(NOTE: In Buddhist funerals after the body is cremated the relatives pick the bones out of the ashes with their chopsticks and pass them on. This is why you never pass food from one set of chopsticks to another.)

Mamoru and the senshi were in Usagi's room. None of them felt much like talking but they knew that they had to be ready for the next spirit. Haruka scratched at the cloth tied around her forehead.

"Nothing good will come of this." Rei broke the silence. "I can feel the evil growing. Its almost as if..." Rei fell silent not knowing how to express her fears.

"This is like no evil I have felt before." Jadeite whispered. "And I have felt evil. This is black evil, It is not ambition it is not greed. I does not desire wealth or domination. It desires pain."

"It is worse than that." Everyone turns around to see Ryo standing in the doorway.

"It desires demise. To make all that is only what it was."
"What does that mean." Rei asked.
"Power." everyone turned again to see a short fat man with bluish skin, no hair and pointed ears floating in the other corner.

"The universe is power." the little man continued. "Before anything there was everything. It existed in the form of energy a dark energy that could not be seen. When the Dark Lich and the Goddess of light willed themselves into existence they fought over it. When the Dark Lich fled all that can be seen was made from that which cannot. Still much of that which cannot be seen remains. Its is from this that the Dark Lich gets his strength. He wishes to have infinite power so he would turn all that can be seen back to that which cannot. He feels threatened by existence of the power of presence. This is the essence of all that exists. It is a great field of energy created by all life. This power he cannot touch and because he cannot use it, it can be used against him. So he seeks to end all life in order to end the threat to his.

"But if he is alive." Ami started
"He isn't he is the essence of destruction, the essence of death. but enough. I am Jinn the wind spirit, the thunder crash. Jupiter the time has come follow me."

"The end will be near but I have another task for you now." Kioku spun to see what appeared to be a pure white flame floating in the air.

"Who are you!?"
"I am Wisp the spirit of light, the time of battle draws near, and the people must have a queen to lead them. Come the sword of her deliverance will be the tool of your revenge."
