Hey-o! It’s Crescent Moon here, and I’ve got a short story for ya! I’m
writing it with my friend, Bethi_Usako. She wanted to put her story on
ASMR, but with that weird HTML thing and icky Macs it just doesn’t work
out for either of us. (BU) We have a BSB story for y’all and we hope you
enjoy it. It’s called Guess Who. If the ages are wrong, sorry, but
that’s the part I wrote. (CM) I will be putting my stories up at my web
site (www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Field/4503/index.html) as well as hers, if
I can. And, this is set in America. Serena and the scouts live in
Northern Wisconsin, near Minnesota, three hours away from
Minneapolis/St.Paul. Okay, now that we’ve explained, here ya go:

Guess Who
By Crescent Moon (smtradingcardcollector@yahoo.com) and Bethi_Usako
(bethi_usako@hotmail.com)

Normal disclaimers apply, as well as things such as: We don’t own the
Backstreet Boys. (BU) Although, that’s not a bad idea........... (CM)
Bethi! (BU) J/K, Cres, j/k. I’m new at this! (CM) Well, we’ve got a
story to do, so forget it. (BU) Fine. But Kevin is so cute............
(CM) I know, but Brian is cute too. (All the rest is bickering
about who’s the cutest, so we won’t put it on.)

Serena walked down the street bundled up in her winter clothes. She had
gotten to school early that day, so no detention now. January always
depressed her, though she didn’t know why. Suddenly, she thought of the
BSB concert that was coming up in May. Her mom, a teacher at an
elementary school, had gotten her tickets for her and her four best
friends, plus all five moms. That was the only bummer. As she reached
her home, a sharp pain tore at her inside her chest. Serena had gotten
used to them, since they had started to happen every once in awhile
since the rainbow crystals had started to show up, six in all so far,
but this one was major bad. She stumbled through the door, gasping at
the pain.
“Serena? Are you okay?” asked her mother. Serena shook her head, she
couldn’t speak because of the pain.
“What’s wrong? Do you need to go to the hospital?” Serena nodded, still
holding her hands to her chest. Her mother quickly called an ambulance,
and tried to comfort her daughter. She left a note for her husband and
son, then she and Serena got on the ambulance and were whisked away to a
hospital in the neighboring city. On the way, Serena blacked out.

~Five hours later~
Serena woke with a start in a hospital bed. She remembered getting on
the ambulance, but that was all. She looked around the room and found
her mother and the doctor talking near the door. Suddenly, her four best
friends burst into the room.
“Serena! Are you okay?” asked one, a blonde girl and blue eyes, Mina.
	“I’m fine, I think.”
“What happened?” asked a black-haired, blue-eyed one, Amy.
“I’m not sure. I was almost home and then a sharp pain shot through my
chest and it was really painful.”
“Geez, Meatball Head. You’d think that you’d have almost killed
yourself the way your mom went on and on about the whole thing,” said a
black-haired, purple-eyed girl, snobbishly.
“Raye! That was totally uncalled for!” reprimanded a brown-haired,
green-eyed girl.
“Lita, it’s okay.” Serena put a hand on her violent friend’s arm. “My
mom is likely to throw things out of proportion. This is my first time
in a hospital since I was born.” She glanced at the door where the
doctor was starting to enter. Her mom followed fearfully.
“Serena, how are you feeling now?” he asked.
“Okay, I guess. What’s going on?” Serena asked as calmly as she could.
“We believe that you have a heart problem. No one here is specialized
enough to really help you, so we want to send you down to Rochester, MN,
so they can look at you.”
	“Why Rochester?”
“They’re very well trained for this area, so we figured we should let
them handle this, instead of us messing you up even more.” The doctor
smiled. “Don’t worry. They’ll help you.” Serena nodded, and swallowed.
Going down to Rochester? She’d be away from her friends for who knows
how long!
“Serena, you can use my laptop if you want,” Amy offered. Serena nodded
again.
The next day, Serena and her mother went to Rochester to the hospital.
Serena was admitted immediately, and tests were done on and off for a
week. The doctor, a nice woman, would visit with Serena and ask her
questions about it. Serena would answer, usually with a half-truth, and
then she’d get another question. At the end of the week, the doctors
determined it was a heart condition that occurred with too much stress.
Unfortunately, Serena’s night life was all stress. A fifteen-year-old
girl in 9th grade had way too much stress as it was, but being Sailor
Moon as well was worse. She was given some medicine that would help when
she had the smaller pains, and appointments were set up. She had one in
March, May, July, and September set up for the beginning of the month.
The May one was the day of the Backstreet Boys concert, right there in
Rochester. No one could figure out why it was there and not in the Twin
Cities.
“Thank you, doctor.” Serena’s mom almost hugged her if it wasn’t for
her self-control. Then Serena thanked the doctor and they left.

~The first Friday of May~
Serena was so excited she could barely sit still in her Western
Civilization class that was right before lunch. The next day was the
concert! She was all packed, except for a few things. She made a list,
which included her laptop her parents had bought for her in March, and
her flute, so she could practice for her upcoming recital. (I play the
flute, and felt like Serena should do something! -CM) Suddenly, the pain
came back, worse than in January. Her teacher knew exactly what to do,
and sent for an ambulance. She barely wheezed out to give the list to
her mother, who was bringing the ten of them down to Rochester that
night. She blacked out as soon as the ambulance arrived.

~Hours later~
Serena woke up in a hospital bed, but she knew that she was in
Rochester. It was the same room she had stayed in last time, only the
curtain was closed on the other side of the room. Her doctor came in.
“How are you Serena? Better?” Serena nodded, finding she couldn’t speak
very well.
“The drug we gave you should wear off soon, so you’ll be able to talk.
Are you hungry?” The doctor smiled as Serena nodded eagerly. After the
doctor left, Serena noticed it was nearly seven. She frowned, wondering
how long it would take for her to recover. She really wanted to go to
the concert the next night. A nurse came in then with her food, and the
nurse was followed by her mom, four best friends, and four other moms.
The moms went off to one side of the room and talked about something,
while Serena’s friends told her about what they had done on the way down
and the rest of the school day. She listened as she ate, hoping she
would be able to actually talk soon. Luckily, she was and did. They
chatted for the better part of an hour, until the nurse said that they
should let Serena get some rest. Before they left, each of the Serena’s
four friends gave her four stuffed animals.
“We figured you should try to be at home, and since you have so many at
your house, we got you a lot of them,” said Mina with a wink. Raye tried
not to smile, but it didn’t exactly work. Then they left.
Serena stayed in bed for awhile, but felt she needed to stretch her
legs. She stood up and walked around.
“You and your friend are noisy,” said a male voice from the other side
of the curtain.
“Huh? Who’s there?” Serena pulled back the curtain and found a person
silhouetted from the moon light at the window. “I’m sorry if we
disturbed you.”
“It’s okay, it’s just that I could hear you very well and felt like I
was eavesdropping.”
“Don’t worry about. My friends and I are bound to be hyper today and
tomorrow.”
	“Why’s that?”
“We’re going to the BSB concert tomorrow. At least, I hope I am.”
“Really.” The man turned, and he looked slightly familiar to Serena,
though she wasn’t sure where from.
“Yeah. My mom got us tickets way back in January, right before this
heart problem came up.”
“So, is this your third time here?”
“Yeah. I don’t exactly hate it, but I don’t like it either.”
	“What.”
“The coming down here part, I mean.”
“Oh. I can agree with tha-” Suddenly the lights flashed on. Serena
gasped. There, standing right in front of her, was Brian Litrell of the
Backstreet Boys!
“Mr. Litrell! Miss Crescent!” called a nurse. Serena went around the
curtain, composed luckily, and asked what the nurse wanted.
“Just checking up on you. Really, Miss Crescent, you shouldn’t be out
of bed just yet.”
“But I feel fine. Besides, with all the stuffed animals my friends gave
me, there’s no room for me!” The nurse laughed.
“Okay, you can stay up. Your mother wanted me to give you this and to
tell you that they’ll be here during visiting hours tomorrow before they
bring you to the concert.” The nurse gave Serena a bag.
“Thank you.” The nurse and Serena moved the stuffed animals to the end
of the bed. She opened up the bag and out jumped her cat, Luna.
	“Luna?” whispered Serena.
“Serena, you must be careful. The Negaverse has followed us down here.
Artemis thinks they’re planning to attack at the concert.”
“But why? I thought they were after the Rainbow Crystals.”
“They must think that one of them is down here.” Suddenly, something
shot up Serena’s spine.
“No. The seventh crystal is still at home. It’s inside a cat.”
“Serena, what are you talking about?”
“I don’t know. Look, you better hide before my roommate sees you.”
“Too late, Miss Crescent.” Serena looked and saw Brian Litrell standing
there at the dividing line of the curtain. Luna hissed, then jumped into
the stuffed animals, causing another hiss. A white cat popped out, then
was pulled back in.
“Artemis! What are you doing here, too?” Serena asked it as it
disappeared. “Mina must have smuggled you in here with the stuffed
animals.”
“So, you have two cats in the hospital?” asked Brian.
“Uh, yeah. Luna was in my bag, and Artemis was with the stuffed
animals.” ‘I hope he didn’t hear our conversation.’
	“What’s your first name?”
	“My name? Serena Crescent. Why?”
“Just wondering what I’m supposed to call you besides Miss Crescent.”
	“Oh. Whatever you say.”
“Were you talking to your cat?”
“Yeah, got a problem with that?” Serena raised an eyebrow in his
direction. He shook his head. “No. My name is Brian, in case you didn’t
know.”
“Actually, I was wondering who you were,” said Serena sarcastically. “I
don’t know how anyone would not recognize if they know the BSB. Have a
seat, or at least move the curtain and sit on your bed, or something.”
Brian shrugged, moved the curtain, and took a seat on his bed.
“I’ve got a question for you, Brian. How old are you really?”
	“21.”
“No way!” squeaked Serena. “I’ve got a friend, well, sort of friend,
who’s your age. He doesn’t act nearly half as old as he is. (BU- Can you
guess who I’m talking about?)”
“Well, it takes some people more time to mature than others. What about
you? How old are you?”
“15.” The two talked awhile, discussing what they were doing there,
their heart conditions, and how many times they came. Finally, the
subject turned to the concert. Brian gave her backstage passes for her
and her friends, then told her he would have a surprise for them.
“What is it?” Serena wheedled. Brian winked and shook his head. Then
the door opened, and four odd-looking men walked in. The last one shut
the door quietly, then they all came and stood in front of the two, who
were sitting on the floor. Serena shot up and demanded to know who they
were. She heard Luna and Artemis hissing at the intruders from the
stuffed animals. Just as they were about to take off their hats, the
window flew open, and four more figures appeared.
“Oh, no!” moaned Serena. To the four new figures, she said, “What are
you doing here? The next thing you know, Tuxedo Mask is going to show up
and tell me I’m his princess!”
“Aren’t you?” asked a blond girl in an orange sailor uniform.
“Venus, don’t start that again. We know that I’m THE princess, but not
HIS princess. But don’t tell Luna and Artemis that, just yet. They don’t
know that I’m even THE princess.”
“Uh, Serena? Who are they?” Brian looked nervously at the four
sailor-suited girls. Serena noticed that the four figures from earlier
were the rest of the BSB. She almost fainted, but managed to stay up.
“These, are, the Sailor Scouts.” Serena put her hand to her forehead
and mumbled something incoherent. “Guys, I think it’s safe. We can tell
them.” Serena touched her hand to her chest and a flash of pink, orange,
blue, green, and red, and Serena and her four friends stood with guilty
looks on their faces.
“How’d you do that?” Nick nearly yelled. Howie, A.J., and Kevin had
their mouths hanging open.
“You guys are THE Sailor Scouts?” Brian asked, amazed. They nodded, and
looked down, forgetting that five mega-pop stars were right in front of
them. It took some explaining, but the point got across that they were
to keep quiet, or forget about it. Then the girls left, in shock that
they had been talking to the BSB so openly. Serena watched them go.
“Well, trust them to make an impressive entrance. It figures that they
would go berzerk if I got scared at something other than the hospital.”
Serena again mumbled something incoherent. She went over to her bed and
flopped down on the stuffed animals, not realizing Luna and Artemis were
there as well.
The rest of the evening, the six people visited until the nurse made
them go away. Serena and Brian were dancing until about midnight to the
radio before the nurse said they had to go to sleep.

~Saturday morning~

Serena woke up feeling full of energy, despite the horrible food of the
hospital. She glanced at the clock and saw it was only eight! She yawned
and stretched, then started to get ready for the day. Brian slept like a
log, she guessed, since she made a lot of noise. She and the cats
discussed the Negaverse. Luckily, they hadn’t heard Venus’ comment from
the night before about Serena being the princess. Brian finally woke up
at ten.
“Sleepy Head finally woke up,” teased Serena. Brian just mumbled
something and went for a bathroom. He came back half an hour later,
ready for the day.
“Are you awake now?” Serena teased again.
“Yes, unfortunately.” Brian made a face.
“Hey, if you knew Raye, you’d consider yourself lucky to sleep in until
ten.”
	“Who’s Raye?”
	“Mars.”
“Oh. She’s got a fiery temper to match her fiery powers, right?” Serena
nodded. “Ooh, fun for you.”
“Oh yeah. You should hear about our tongue wars. That’s always
interesting, and then when Darien gets on my case, it’s dis-city.”
	“Who’s Darien?”
“That guy I was talking about last night. I only met him because I
kinda hit him on the head with a test paper.” Serena smiled sheepishly.
“Raye’s got an interest in him, but not as much as the interest she
doesn’t have for Chad, a guy who works for the temple.”
“Tell me something, Serena. Are you guys really from the moo-” He
stopped suddenly and looked behind her.
“What?” Serena asked, then turned around. Directly behind her stood
Kevin. Serena shrieked and smacked him across the face.
“What was that for?” asked a shocked Kevin. Snickers were heard from
the peanut gallery, Nick, A.J., and Howie. Brian tried to not laugh and
Serena suddenly realized what she had done.
“Oops!” she squeaked, then slid past them all into her side of the
room. Luna popped and was about to ask something. Serena put a hand over
Luna’s mouth and flopped on the bed.
“Serena, it’s okay. I think Kev’s been hit with harder stuff from his
fans.” Brian said as he followed her. Serena nodded, and then glanced at
the clock. It was almost eleven.
“Uh, my friends are going to be here soon. Visiting hours start in five
minutes.” Serena pointed. Brian nodded, and he and the rest of them
scooted behind the tightly pulled curtain. Soon, the scouts burst in,
and the gossiping got under way.

~5:30 PM~
“Visiting hours are over you guys. Let’s get outta here!” exclaimed a
pumped Serena. She had given them the backstage passes, but wouldn’t say
where she had gotten them. They all left, and Serena called a good-bye
to her roommate. She saw them poke hands out and wave good-bye. The
concert wasn’t until seven, but the girls had to get ready for it.

~6:30 PM~
The girls, dressed nicely, entered the auditorium thing the concert was
in. They had flashed their backstage passes and gotten in quickly. They
found their seats, tenth row, center, and quickly sat down. Their seats
would be good, and the music wouldn’t totally deafen them. Since it was
a sloped surface, they didn’t worry about other people’s heads. Lita
wouldn’t have had to worry about it anyway. Soon, other people trickled
in quite quickly, and the concert was about to start. The opening act,
EYC, was totally hot, and Lita commented on how one looked like her old
boyfriend. Raye groaned, Mina shook her head, Amy continued to study the
three men on stage, and Serena giggled at Amy and Lita.
Soon, the BSB’s turn came. They fired off with some of their best
songs. Halfway through, Brian made an announcement.
“Now, since we’re playing Howie’s favorite song (CM- I don’t know if it
is, but, oh well.), we have some friends in the audience that we’d like
to bring up here to dance with.” Brian grinned, and the five pop stars
came off the stage and headed straight for the tenth row. Howie was
first, and he took Mina’s hand and led her to the stage. Mina was
grinning like an idiot and she knew it. Next, A.J. held out his arm for
Lita, and they went to the stage. Kevin snagged Raye, and Nick took Amy.
Brian was last and held out his arm to Serena. She took it, graceful as
a princess and whispered to him, “So this is your surprise.” Brian
nodded and grinned at her. During that song, the five girls danced with
their favorite member of the BSB up on stage.

~After the concert~
“Well, what did you guys think of Brian’s surprise?” asked Serena.
“You knew we were going to be doing that?” exclaimed Raye.
	“Not exactly, but Brian-”
“Brian what?” asked someone. They turned, and the BSB was directly
behind them. Each paired off, but they just wandered around and talked
backstage. Soon, they had to leave, but Serena promised to look for
Brian next time she was in Rochester.

~Sunday, car ride home~
The five girls were sitting in the back, stuffed in with stuffed
animals and two cats. They were discussing the reason Artemis had gotten
a weird chill that usually warned him of the Negaverse.
“Maybe they’re from the past. I mean, we had to have had some kind of
entertainment back then,” suggested Serena sensibly. Raye made a
comment, but was muffled by an UFSA (Unidentified Flying Stuffed Animal)
that Amy had thrown.
“I guess we’ll never find out,” sighed Lita, dreamily thinking of A.J.
“I don’t think so. You know, they do have more than just one tour.”
Serena grinned.

Well, what did you guys think? Is it okay? Well, anyway, I, Crescent
Moon, have two announcements. One: I should soon figure out the new html
thing, so look for my stories being up again! Two: There are two people
trying to use the same name: Cresent Moon. Please e-mail these people
and suggest they change their names. Like, Lady Cresent Moon, or Cresent
Moon Knight, if you’re a girl or guy. I’ve been getting e-mail for both
of these people, and I don’t mind sending it on to them, but I think
they should be individual people. Thanx!

Now, I, Bethi_Usako, have an announcement. I’m almost done with my
story! My story by myself. It’s all in one part, since I’m not quite as
computer smart as Cres. Look for it, it’s called Sailor and Soldier
Universe. Please read it when it comes out! Danke! Gracias! Arigato!
Merci! Thanks!
