Alex woke on cold ground.  In the plains of a planet he knew well.  He looked over to see Dryden and Rei just waking up.  Dryden told Rei of a strange dream she had.  Where they had gone to other planets and met other people, who told them they were some sort of legendary heroes.

“It must have been a dream! We’re still on our home planet!” exclaimed Rei.  After deciding that, the trio decided that it must have been a prophecy of their true potential.  Believing they had the power to beat anything, they traveled to their destination. They arrived by space bus and found the beast waiting for them.

Alex decides now is the time to show off his really cool lightning powers and concentrates hard, while dark clouds form overhead.  He releases the built up power, only realizing afterward, that he has not really built up his powers in this “real life”.  The attack ended up equivalent to a shock you might get after rubbing your feet across carpet and touching a door handle.

Meanwhile, Dryden was trying to work her ice power.  Getting angry with this, she releases all her energy at once, covering everything in ice.  Then collapses on the ground.

Alex shakes his head and charges with his sword, at the beast.  He swings and the sword flies out of his hands, flying over his head and hitting Dryden in the head, killing her instantly.

Alex stands there shocked, as Rei realizes that her powers are very limited also.  The flame from a lighter is more powerful then the flame she could cast.  She charged with a lighter aimed at the beast.  She gained speed…but at the last minute she trips over Alex’s sword, sliding across the ice, right into the beast.  It glances at her awkwardly, picks her up and casually drops her off a conveniently located 400-foot cliff.  She too dies instantly.

Now the future is up to Alex.  Picking up his sword, he charges at the beast.  Deep from inside him, lightning came to his blade, as he drives it deep within the beast’s chest.  Alex nudges the beast’s carcass with his foot and when he’s sure it’s dead, walks off.

Hours later Alex finds himself aboard a ship, watching his home planet come in view.  Alex sighs with relief and leans back in his chair.  Suddenly a loud crunching noise comes from the engine room.  The engine roars and the ship plummets to the planet’s surface as a burning ball.  With great speed it crashes and lay silent…no survivors are left.
