Beach Bummed Sailor Senshi
Chapter One:
"What do you mean I can't go to the beach?!" "You have to practice, Usagi-chan!" Usagi pouted, flopping down on her bed, arms crossed before her. How many times had Luna disaproved of her actions so far this summer? All the cat wanted to do was work, practice, and work. This was summer! "Luna, Sailor Moon needs a vacation too! I'm tired!" The black cat jumped up next to Usagi and sat. The crescent moon on her head stood out from her dark fur, and she sighed. "Maybe you're right, Usagi. You have proven that you've become a strong warrior." Usagi grinned and flexed her arms. "However, Queen Beryl has been quiet for a while now, and that worries me. Knowing her she has some evil plan already in action." "Relax Luna, even the bad guys need a vacation once in awhile." She jumped up and headed toward her closet, humming to herself. She opened the wide doors and peered inside, looking for her old bathing suit, but not finding it. "Where is it?" she mumbled quietly, rummaging through the mess. "You mean this?" Usagi turned. Luna stood above a ragged, pink suit, filled with holes and ribbons. "Ahh!" Usagi hurried over to the suit and lifted it up. "There's no way I can repair it now! What am I going to do! Waahhh!!" She fell to her knees and cried, while Luna sighed. "Usagi-chan, why not just go ask Rei-chan to see if you can borrow hers?" "That would make everything worse!" Usagi complained, picturing asking her friend. "Rei-chan, do you have an extra suit I can borrow?" "You couldn't fit into any swimsuit with the amount of snacks you're eating, Usagi! Anyway, I'm a little busy now, go buy one yourself!" She pouted and opened her wallet, pulling out her change. "There's not enough for a suit. Summer's ruined!" She started to cry again. She stopped when someone knocked on her door. "Usagi?" It was her father. "Can I come in?" "Yes!" she said, throwing the old suit in her closet and quickly shutting the doors. Her father walked in the room and asked, "What was that noise I heard? Sounded like there was another person in here?" Luna quickly averted her eyes while Usagi laughed. "Just me and Luna dad, and cats can't talk. Aha ha ha... What did you want?" "I forgot to give you your allowance, here." He held out the money toward her, and eagerly she took it. Her eyes lite up and she hugged him. "Thank you! Now I can buy a new swimsuit!" "A new suit? What happened to your old one?" "Ahh..." "Never mind. Don't forget to clean your room before you go out." He left, shutting the door behind him. Usagi laughed and fell onto her bed, holding the money above her. "This is perfect! Now I can buy a suit, go to the beach, find some cute boys!" She giggled and Luna sighed. `Usagi-chan will never grow up,' she thought. `How can we expect to find the Princess of the Moon when all she cares about is finding a date?' Usagi ran to her dresser and picked up her communicator - she couldn't wait to tell her friends the good news. She pushed a few buttons, and soon, Ami's picture appeared. "Usagi, what's up?" "Ami-chan! How'd you like to go shopping with me? I need to find a new swimsuit, and afterwards we can all go to the beach!" "I don't know, I have cram school tomorrow. . ." "Come on Ami, just one day to relax and have fun!" "Luna isn't saying anything?" Usagi cast a look at the cat, now sleeping on the bed. She smiled and returned to the communicator. "Nope, she agrees that we all need time off. So that means you have to come." Her friend smiled and agreed. Usagi clicked another key on the communicator and Makoto's face appeared. "Hi Mako-chan, guess what? I just had a great idea . . ."
Chapter Two:
"How about this one?" Usagi laughed, and Ami grinned, putting down the polka dot suit. It was still morning and the two friends had been shopping for nearly an hour. Ami needed a new swimsuit also, yet neither had found anything they liked yet. They took a break at the ice cream parlor, Usagi taking a deep bite in her chocolate cone. Ami, as usual, had bought only a small sundae. "Hey odango head!" Usagi knew that voice! She turned, cone in hand, face covered in chocolate, to see Mamoru standing nearby. "You'll never get a boyfriend if you keep eating all those sweets." Usagi's face went red. She didn't know why, but each time she saw Mamoru her heart skipped a beat. She knew that Rei was dating him, and he was always obnoxious whenever they talked, but for some reason, she was drawn toward him. She had to admit, he was cute. "Hello, Mamoru," Ami said, smiling. She was always amused when they teased each other. She, too, had a small crush on the man. "Hello Ami." "What are you doing here?" Usagi asked, wiping her face clean. She noticed the shopping bags in his hand and wondered what was inside. "Just picking up some shirts on sale, plus a few other things. This summer I'm volunteering as a lifeguard at the beach for three days a week." "No way!" Usagi nearly dropped her cone from shock. How could she have fun if he was watching her? She stood and turned. "Come on Ami, we have more shopping to do." She walked away, and her friend stood. "Sorry to leave so abruptly, Mamoru. See you later." "Okay, Ami." The blue-haired girl hurried after her friend, giggling to herself. Usagi was always funny around Mamoru.
Chapter Three:
"Cold!" "Watch out Usagi!" "Ahh!" SPLASH! The four friends laughed as Usagi fell face first into the water. She came up, spitting the sand out of her mouth. "Hey, who threw that?" She picked up the red frisbee that floated near her, scanning the beach. Her friends continued to laugh. "Hey Usagi, getting beat up by frisbees now?" Rei joked. She wore a black and red swimsuit, her long black hair tied into a high pony tail. Minako wore a two piece yellow suit, Makoto a two piece green one. Ami had found a blue and white striped suit, and Usagi had settled on a new pink one piece, no ribbons attached. "There he is!" Usagi stood up and brushed the sand off her before heading over to the group of boys. As she approached, her anger melted, as did her heart. They were cute! One of them headed over to her. "Sorry! You're not hurt are you?" Usagi stared at him, her face going red. His hair was a golden blonde, his eyes a crystal blue. His body was perfectly tanned, his suit dark purple to match the medallion around his neck. "Hello?" "Oh! Um, I'm sorry." He looked confused. "Why are you sorry?" "Um..." Her friends appeared, Makoto blushing also as she saw the handsome man. `He reminds me of my long lost sempai,' she thought to herself. "Usagi-chan," Rei said, "Can't you even return a simple frisbee?" "Usagi?" The man smiled. "That's a beautiful name." She reddened even more. "I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Kentaro." The other four introduced themselves, and he smiled again. "I have a great idea, why don't you five join us in a frisbee throwing contest. It'll begin in ten minutes, the winners will receive free boating for a couple hours." Usagi snapped out of her daze and grinned. "That's a great idea, I'm an expert at frisbees." Her friends giggled amongst themselves, remembering her usual clumsiness. "Great, why don't you be my partner then?" Usagi nodded and, while Kentaro wasn't looking, stuck her tongue out at Rei, who stuck her own out. They would've kept it up but Kentaro's friends came over. "Hey Ken, who are these ladies?" "New friends of mine. Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, and Usagi. They're going to be our partners in the frisbee contest." The four men nodded, happy to have the company of the beautiful girls. "Sounds good," one said, going over to Rei. "My name is Hioshi." He took her hand in a friendly shake, his body a rich tan. He had short black hair and dark blue eyes, and a small scar was across his forehead. The other three men went to the ladies, American triplets visiting their friends, all with blonde hair and blue eyes. Their names were Derek, Max, and Steve. After the pairs were made the ten headed back over to where the men had been practicing. Kentaro told Usagi, "Okay, first we have to see how good you are. Back up about fifty feet, then toss it to me." Usagi grinned, giving him a thumbs up. "No problem for me there," she said, dashing backwards. Once she estimated over seventy feet, (fifty was just too easy to do), she stopped. "Okay, you ready?" He nodded. In the familiar motion of throwing her tiara she tossed the red disc to him, it flying smooth and straight to its target. "Hey, you are good!" He jumped a few feet back and threw it to her. She caught it easily, her two long tails of hair flying in the wind. She grinned and also jumped back some feet before tossing it again. Chapter Four:
"Queen Beryl-sama." The man stood before his leader, the mighty Queen Beryl of the Dark Kingdom. She sat on her throne, her red hair falling to the ground, her black gown lined with gold. Her eyes narrowed as she spoke to the man. "Zoicite, you have failed to find the silver crystal. Furthermore, you have failed to dispose of the sailor warriors. You are trying my patience; if you fail again you will end up as Jadeite, spending eternity in the cold sleep." "I will not fail," he said, voice strong although he shook inside with fear. Jadeite's fate would not be his, could not be his! "I have a plan to destroy the sailor warriors; it's already progressing well." "You best hope it works," the queen said, hands moving over her glowing sphere. Zoicite wondered just what she saw in there, for he never saw anything more than purple fog. He bowed to her before warping out, reappearing in Kunzite's chamber. Kunzite was the leader of the four generals: the strongest, cruelest and wisest. Already two were gone: Jadeite in deep sleep, Nephlite killed by Zoicite's demons. He did not want to be the next to go. "Kunzite-sama?" There was no response: the man was not in. Zoicite sighed, wondering where the man was. He warped out, returning to his own chambers. "Jouster!" The demon appeared, a small girl, her pink hair falling to her waist, her blue eyes wide and innocent. She wore a school outfit and a backpack, but in her hand was a strange, iron rod. "You called?" she asked, her voice sweet. "Jouster, what have you found out? And return to normal, you're starting to sicken me." Zoicite placed a hand on his forehead, trying to rub away the headache that was forming. Jouster bowed and held out the rod. A flash of smoke formed, then she was in her real form. Her skin was blue leather, her hands and feet clawed. She had a long, slim tail with a sharp point, and her wings were long and black. She wore a black, sleeveless dress that hung to her knees, tied at the waist with a silver belt. Her hair was black and dark blue, intermixed, forming a braid down her back. She carried a sword on her right side, the hilt made of the iron rod, which she sheathed in her belt. Her eyes were gray, shining with hatred and evil. "Better?" Zoicite nodded, removing the hand from his face. "Your plan is proceeding as planned," Jouster continued. "We have spotted potential women as being Sailor Moon, and each has been persuaded to enter the frisbee contest. The others are already locked away in the crystal pond. Once we determine who is Sailor Moon, we will make her transform and then kill her." Zoicite smiled, his hand habitually twirling a strand of his hair. "Excellent. After she is gone, there will be no one stopping me in finding the silver crystal. Queen Beryl will be pleased, as will Kunzite-sama." He grinned at Jouster. "Go, continue as planned." "As you wish," she said, bowing. She grabbed the hilt of her sword and mumbled a strange word, smoke appearing. When it disappeared she was gone, leaving Zoicite alone, dreaming of how proud Kunzite would be of him.
Chapter Five: "Kentaro and Usagi advance to semi-finals." The two slapped hands in happiness before rushing over to where the five other couples were. None of Usagi's friends had made it through the elimination rounds, and as Ami watched from the audience now, she frowned. "Don't you think there is something wrong about this?" she whispered to Rei. The physic was silent a moment before nodding. "Yeah, Usagi's never this good against demons." "No Rei, I mean, about the way this was handled." Rei nodded again. "Well, for awhile now I've felt a strange presence, but every time I try to home in on it, it points to that girl." Ami followed her gesture, looking at the small, pink-haired girl. She was innocently staring at the contest in awe, licking a large lollipop. "But she's just a small kid, and cute too. Could the Dark Kingdom stoop to using children?" Rei didn't answer as Minako and Makoto approached. "Hey, you're out too, huh?" Makoto asked, taking a seat next to them. "I guess that means Usagi-chan's in." The two nodded, and were surprised by Minako's comment. "You notice how strange this contest is? I mean, the way they make you handle those frisbees is crazy." She took a step back, not to excited about the strange looks on Ami and Rei's faces. "Everyone," Ami said, "I think we may be facing trouble." Chapter Six:
Usagi threw the red frisbee, watching in joy as it arched high over the wall, through the tires, and under the fence, right into Kentaro's waiting hands. She jumped up in joy, her face filled with happiness. She had almost forgotten how fun it had been to just enjoy the day without having to worry about demons. "Usagi and Kentaro advance to finals." He rushed over to her, giving her a friendship hug. She blushed, and realizing what he had just done, he pulled away, embarrassed. "Sorry, Usagi." "It's okay," she said, face still red. She loved the way the wind blew through his hair, the way he smiled at her. She felt so good! "Only one more round to go, then we'll be the champs. I promise you a pleasant ride out to that island." He pointed towards the water, to the small island that dotted the horizon. Usagi's heart nearly stopped. They'd be alone together, on a island, far away from everyone, espically from Rei. A smile lit her face; wouldn't she be jealous! "Okay Usagi, it's our turn again. Just keep up your magic, okay?" She nodded and they ran to their starting places. She waved to her friends in the bleachers, but they were all looking down at Ami's computer. Usagi frowned, wondering what was so important. She shrugged, heading over to her position.
Chapter Seven:
"There's something definitely wrong," Ami said, studying the data. "That is no ordinary kid over there, she has strong magic." "A demon then?" Makoto said, and the brainiac nodded. "So this whole contest is a fake." "Yes. As I see it, the Dark Kingdom is looking for someone who can throw a frisbee, or tiara, as well as Sailor Moon. This whole contest is a trap." Minako gasped. "That means Usagi is in trouble! She's already in the finals!" Over the loud speaker came an announcement, "Usagi and Kentaro are the winners. Come to the judges' booth to claim your free boating time!" "Oh no! That Usagi, doesn't she suspect anything?" Rei jumped up. "Come one, we have to stop the demon before anything happens." "Wait, Rei," Ami said, reading the new information. "This isn't good news. That child, demon, over there is more powerful than any others we've faced so far; us four combined can't defeat it. We'll need to combine with Sailor Moon to destroy it." "Then let's hurry and get her," Rei said, and the others agreed. They jumped up and raced towards the judges' booth, but Usagi wasn't there. Makoto asked a bystander where the winners went. He pointed towards the docks, and the four took off. They arrived too late, seeing Usagi and Kentaro in a boat, heading off towards the island. "USAGI!" Rei shouted. Chapter Eight:
"Usagi!" She turned around, looking back toward the shore. Rei was there, shouting something, waving her hands. `Probably wishing she was going,' Usagi thought to herself, waving back. The others began to wave too, shouting words, but she couldn't hear them. "Usagi." She turned back to him, blushing at his warm smile. "Your face is so beautiful," he said. Her heart beat even faster, and as her mind went numb she failed to notice how fast he was rowing. Before she knew, they were docking at the island. He jumped out, pulling the boat onto the sand before helping her get out. She removed her shoes, feeling the cool sand squish between her toes, the warm sun against her back. She looked back at the beach and gasped. "Wow, everyone's so far away! We sure got here fast!" She placed a hand over her eyes, shading them from the sun while trying to spot her friends. Kentaro went to her and gently took her other arm. "Come with me, there's something I want to show you." She nodded, turning away from the ocean and allowing him to lead her into the forest. As they walked, Usagi began to grow cold; she felt something was wrong. She looked around her, but nothing appeared out of the ordinary. Besides, she was with the handsome Kentaro; nothing could go wrong. Still, the nagging feeling remained. "Here it is." They stepped through some bushes and into a small clearing. In the center was a crystal pond, without any plants or creatures, the water completely still. "Look inside," he said, and she leaned toward it. The water was clear, and with the sun high above she was able to see what it held. Inside were other girls, all looking up and screaming at her, eyes desperate, filled with tears and fear. Around them were dark creatures, with red eyes and sharp claws, slowly draining their energy. Usagi screamed, trying to jump back, but Kentaro grabbed her arms from behind. "Kentaro, what's going on?" she cried. "That's not an ordinary pond, there're girls trapped in there!" She began her high pitched wailing, but the man behind her shouted back. "Stop your whinning you crybaby!" She stopped, shocked by his words. This couldn't be happening to her; Kentaro was so sweet. What had happened to him? She craned her neck to look at him but he threw her forward. Fear filled her as she fell toward the pond, and although her arms flailed and her mind raced, she knew there was nothing she could do. She let out a loud, curling scream. Chapter Nine:
"Where did she go?" Ami looked around, not finding the child demon. She had insisted they check up on the demon, and when she checked her computer, her worst fears were confirmed. "She's moved, over there! Oh no!" She was pointing at the island, where Usagi now was with the man Kentaro. "We have to save Usagi-chan!" Makoto said, pulling out her transformation stick. She hurried into the near forest, the others following. After making sure no one was around, they shouted their transformation words. "Jupiter power, make up!" "Mercury power, make up!" "Venus power, make up!" "Mars power, make up!" "Let's go," Sailor Jupiter said, and the others nodded, hurrying over to the water. Once on the beach, Mercury shouted, "Shabon Spray Freeze!" Before them the water froze, forming a small but sturdy ice bridge all the way to the island. Without a second to spare, they all ran across, hoping they were in time to save their friend. Chapter Ten: "Umph!" The loud cry startled Usagi and she opened her shut eyes, staring at . . . "Mamoru!" His body over hers, they lay together on the on the wet grass. The moment, though only lasting a second, made both go red. Then he was pulling her up and away, her mind still numb. "Hurry Usagi," he said, and she obeyed, only then remembering Kentaro. She cast a look behind her and gasped, seeing him unconscious on the ground, his purple medallion shattering as the evil energy left it. Above him stood a small, innocent looking girl with pink hair. Usagi gasped as the child began to change, turning into a... Demon! She was filled with fear, not sure just what to do. She couldn't become Sailor Moon with Mamoru here. Wait, what was he doing here. She asked him. "I was on lifeguard duty," he said, leading her through the bushes, far away from the pond. "When I saw you in the contest, I knew something was wrong. There wasn't a frisbee contest scheduled, and when you left with him to this island, I knew you would be in danger. People aren't allowed here unless on the special tour." Running slightly behind him, her hand in his, Usagi took a sharp breath. Mamoru was worried, about her? Her heart beat faster as they continued to run. Although Sailor Moon couldn't appear, she was glad to be in his company. "Die!" The demon suddenly appeared before them, shoving the two aside with brute force. "Ahh!" Usagi screamed, tumbling down a hill, landing on her face on the bottom. She spat out the dirt before looking up the hill. She heard sounds of battle and growled. "How dare she break up a good moment with Mamoru! She'll pay for that! Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" As she became Sailor Moon she thought, I'm coming Mamoru, hold on. She ran up the hill, and into the path where the demon had attacked. Mamoru was gone, and she only hoped he was safe. She didn't have time to look for him now, for the demon stood before her, tail whipping back and forth. Sailor Moon pointed at her. "You demon, how dare you ruin a chance at a romantic moment. I am the soldier fighting for love and justice, SAILOR MOON! And in the name of the moon, I'll punish you!" "Die!" Jouster charged, her claws rushing toward the warrior. "Ahh!" Sailor Moon dodged underneath the claws just in time, feeling the heat of the demon above her. Jouster charged again and again, and Sailor Moon dodged just in time again and again. Finally she was backed up against a large tree, her breath hard, her body aching. The demon had managed to rake her left leg, and it hurt to stand. Jouster's wings flexed and she let out a hiss before charging, intent on the kill. Sailor Moon screamed as loud as she could. "AAAHHHH!!!!!!" "Fire, Soul!" A stream of fire flared out from the left, striking the demon in the back. Jouster stumbled, allowing enough time for Sailor Moon to jump and roll away to safety before her claws struck the tree. "Everyone!" Relief filled her face as her friends appeared. Painfully she got to her feet, her body bruised. "She's more powerful than any other demon we've faced," Mercury said. "We'll need to unite our powers before we can defeat her." Sailor Moon nodded, running limply to them, but before she could get there Jouster swung her tail, tripping her. "Sailor Moon!" Sailor Jupiter shouted as her friend fell hard. Jouster's tail wrapped around her leg. "I call upon the power of Jupiter, give me lightning and thunder to save my friend. Supreme, Thunder!" Her lightning crashed at the demon, who let go of Sailor Moon's leg to dodge the blast. "You all shall die!" she said, cupping her hands before her. "Fire, Thunder!" From her hands streamed a mixture of fire and lightning, heading straight towards Sailor Moon, who stared frozen in terror as death approached, her ankle twisted. Suddenly she was flying, safe inside the arms of. . . "Tuxedo Kamen-sama!" The masked man landed near the other sailors, placing her down gently before turning to the demon. Quick as lightning he threw his famous rose, striking Jouster's left side. The demon screamed in anger, trying to extract the rose which was draining her powers. "Quick Sailor Senshi, you must combine your powers with Sailor Moon, strike at the rose!" The five nodded, and Sailor Moon took off her tiara. "Moon Tiara..." Sailor Moon took the tiara from her head, and as it formed the magical disc she drew it back for the throw. "Shabon..." Sailor Mercury crossed her arms before her, concentrating as the bubbles began to from around her. "Fire..." Sailor Mars crossed her fingers to resemble a mock gun, a spark of fire appearing at the fingertips. "Supreme..." From Sailor Jupiter's tiara came an antena, and after the clouds appeared above her, lightning shot down. "Crescent..." Sailor Venus pointed held held the elbow of her arm as she pointed at the demon, index finger glowing. "Action!" "Spray!" "Soul!" "Thunder!" "Beam!" The super charged disc flew straight at the helpless Jouster, crashing directly where the rose had hit. With a loud cry of anger the demon disappeared in a fit of flames. The Sailor Senshi all shouted, "All right!" "Remember, as long as you are together, you can conquer anything," Tuxedo Kamen told them. He touched his top hat in a salute, "Until we meet again." He turned and left, vanishing from sight. Sailor Moon watched him leave, stars in her eyes. "He's so dreamy!" she cooed, and Mars poked her. "What about that Kentaro?" Moon gasped. "Oh no, I forgot about him, and Mamoru! I have to find him!" She looked at her friends. "Over that way there is a crystal pond with some girls trapped in there with some shadows, please save them while I find Mamoru. With this demon gone there should be no problem defeating the little ones. I'll meet you back on the beach." "Okay," Sailor Venus said, "Don't do anything nasty with him now." Sailor Moon went completely red and shouted back, "You're as mean as Rei-chan!" "I heard that!" Sailor Mars said, glaring. Sailor Moon glared back until Sailor Mercury said, "Come on, we have to free those girls." The others nodded, and all but Sailor Moon ran to where the pond was. Once they left, Sailor Moon converted back into Usagi, and she began to call out to Mamoru. "Mamoru! Where are you?" She was very worried, and although her ankle still hurt, she walked about, searching for him. "Mamoru!" She looked over a bush found him staring back at her. She stumbled backwards, her legs flying upwards. "Usagi! Are you okay?" He jumped over the bushes and help her up. She was glad to see he was okay, loving the way his eyes showed concern for her. "Yes," she answered, "are you? What happened to the demon?" "I'm okay. Sailor Moon and her senshi appeared and destroyed the demon." He smiled at her. "I'm glad you're okay, Usagi." She blushed. "Now, let's get off this island." She nodded, and they headed to the beach where his boat waited. Amazingly, the pain in her ankle had vanished. Chapter Eleven:
"Watch out Usagi!" "Ahh!" WACK! The beach ball hit her face and she fell over backwards on the sand. "Owie owie owie!" she cried, holding her swollen nose. Her friends laughed. It was she who insisted that they play a game of volleyball. Usagi sat up and glared at Rei. "You did that on purpose, Rei-chan!" Rei glared back. "You just can't play this game, Usagi! Plehh!!!" She stuck her tongue out, and Usagi did the same. Makoto, Minako, and Ami all laughed; those two always fought with each other. But Usagi had one more surprise for them. She actually stopped annoying Rei, looking at them all with a smile. "You guys are great friends," she said, "You saved my life, and those captured girls. Luckily for them, they won't remember anything they went through." Her friends stood there stunned, until she added, "Who can lend me some money for an ice cream cone?" "WHAT?!" they cried, mouths gaping. "All you can think about is food!" Rei complained. "Not true, but fighting demons has built up an appetite. Come on Rei-chan, just five dollars." "No way Usagi, you shouldn't have bought that t-shirt at the store." "Come on! I'm starving!" "No way Usagi!" Rei took off, grabbing her purse from the chair, Usagi in hot pursuit. The others laughed and chased after them, wondering if they'd ever learn.
