Sailor Heart 


     Elemental Scouts: Chapter 6: Singing' The Blues

     
     Aria was in a good mood.  In fact, she was in the most excellent mood she'd ever been in. 
She ran into the house to call the others and almost stepped on Poseidon's tail.  Poseidon
managed to escape the impending pain in the tail just as he saw the shoe coming down.  Aria
managed to get everyone together in the living room so she could tell them the good news.

     "What's with all the hysteria?" asked Flame, a little grumpy.

     "My group finally got it's first gig!" said Aria quite excited.

     "Very good," said Adrian.  "See, all you guys needed was a little place to rehearse and the
proper publicity and you've got it made."

     "The ads in the paper didn't hurt either." said Flame.

     "By the way, what's the name of the band, Aria?" asked Tara.

     "Gee, we hadn't thought of that.  What should we call ourselves?"

     "Why don't you take Poseidon along to your next band meeting and suggest  Crescent
Moon?'" asked Aqua, who came in to the room with Poseidon in her arms.

     "Y'know, that's not a bad idea." said Aria.  "I'll do it."


     Jedite was pacing his quarters.  How was he going to get energy for Queen Beryl?  The
supply was good, but still not enough to release the Negaforce.  He had to think of something
soon.  So far, Neflyte was the one thinking up all the good energy-gathering plans; it was his turn
or who knows what Beryl would do to him.  He gazed at his crystal window of Earth and sighed. 
Just then he saw something of great interest to him, and possibly the Negaverse.  He remembered
seeing something on Earth that may solve the energy problem.  He ran to find Neflyte, and when
he did, dragged him to Beryl's throne room.

     My Queen, I have an excellent idea for gathering energy."  Said Jedite, after he dropped
Neflyte on the floor.

     "Proceed, Jedite." said Beryl.

     "It's really quite simple, actually.  Humans spend vast amounts of energy enjoying
something they call music.  Even more so when the group playing the music is in the same room. 
This could be the opportunity of a lifetime."

     "What do you think, Neflyte?" asked Beryl.

     "I think I know what Jedite is getting at, and why he dragged me here to hear this." he
said glaring at Jedite.  "He wants me to use my powers of raising a single person's energy output
on the musical group while he gathers energy from the crowd."

     I did some preliminary research on this, my Queen, on my last visit to Earth.  I think this
could solve our problem and be able to free the Negaforce."

     "Hmmmm, maybe this plan of yours will work.  But what about the Elemental Scouts?"
asked the Queen.

     "A valid question," said Neflyte.

     "How do you suppose we deal with them, your Highness?" asked Jedite.

     "I think we'll have to wait and see.  Proceed with your plans." said Beryl.  Jedite smiled
an evil smile for the first time in a long time.


     "All right, you guys.  I think that's enough or today." said Aria, after a particularly rough
practise session.

     "Say, Alex, I really like your guitar work on the  Lay Down Sally' solo." said the
drummer.

     "Are you kidding?" said Alex.  "How about the drum fill on  Soul Sacrifice', Bret?  You
do that on opening night and you'll keep  em coming back every night."

     "Nah, I think that would be Aria's vocals on a lot of songs," said Larry the bass player,
"that keeps them coming back for more."

     "I couldn't do those duets without a great male lead singer, Larry.  Alex is the greatest."
said Aria.

     "Well, I think we're ready for opening night," said Bret.  "Anybody got any idea as to
what our band name should be?"

     "Actually," said Aria, "I do.  Guys, I'd like you to meet my cat, Poseidon.  Notice his
forehead.  I think we should be called Crescent Moon."  Poseidon wriggled his nose at that.

     "I don't think he likes that name," said Larry.  "How about Cat's Eye?"  Poseidon jumped
from Aria's arms and jumped into Larry's.

     "I guess that clinches it," said Bret.  "Let's go celebrate with some cold drinks."

     "Sounds good," said Aria.  "Oh, I gotta call Adrian and ask if he can take our equipment
to the club tomorrow so we can do sound checks."

     Neflyte watched her through the window and threw a sign on her microphone, on Bret's
drums, on Larry's bass and Alex's guitar.

     "Now, when you play those instruments at your opening night, you'll be playing sweet
melodies for the Negaverse."


     The place was packed as Cat's Eye came on the stage.  The crowd cheered as they made
their way to their pre-arranged instruments.  After doing a very quick check, they broke into their
first song; "Takin' Care Of Business" by Bachman Turner Overdrive.  The group played with
ferocious intensity and the people responded positively.

     "Thank you, thank you," started Aria.  "We hope our music gives you lots of energy to
get up and dance!"  The crowd cheered and the band went in to "Wipeout".  Aria went to the
public address system board and revved up the decibels.  The crowd loved it and started dancing
maniacally as the special lights flickered for show and collected their energy for purpose.

     A few hours later Flame, Tara and Adrian came in to see how the group was doing.  They
could hardly hear themselves over the loud music as they made their way to a table.  As they
listened to the music and enjoyed their drinks, Flame began to get a little nervous.  She motioned
to the others that she was going to go and dance.  As she made her way to the dance floor, she
looked around.  She saw the lights and recognized them as the same type as at the movie theatre. 
Soon, some guy was dancing with her and she couldn't get back to the table to tell the others.

     As soon as she was able, Flame shoved her way through the crowd to get to Tara and
Adrian.  When she got there, she was exhausted.

     "Tara... Adrian...  Negaverse... lights!" she said as she slumped into her chair.

     "Well, then, we gotta take  em out of commission then." said Adrian.

     "Let's get Flame out of here and transformed." suggested Tara.

     Once outside, the three of them transformed, with Flame getting her energy back that she
had lost while under the lights and while pushing through the crowd.

     "Let's do it." said Sailor Heart.

     Once inside, the Elemental Scouts went into action.

     "Earth Tectonics Rumble!" shouted Sailor Earth as the delicate bulbs in the special lights
were destroyed.  The music stopped as the group fell the floor.  Aria was the quickest to recover
and stood up.  In seconds, both Jedite and Neflyte appeared and grabbed her, holding her hostage.

     "I suggest you stop it right there," said Neflyte.  "We wouldn't want this innocent human
getting hurt, would we?"  Sailor Fire was about to argue that point, and Sailor Heart stopped her.

     "It's their ball game at this point.  We've got to let them make the next move."

     "Especially since they have Aria." pointed out Sailor Earth.

     "You will let us transfer the energy we've collected back to the Negaverse or she gets it."
said Jedite.  "Don't think we won't do it either!" he said as he slapped Aria across the face. 
Sailor Fire started to run at him, when Sailors Earth and Heart restrained her.

     "Fine," said Heart.  "Do you what you have to do."  Unbeknownst to Sailor Heart,
Poseidon had stowed away in the car and had made his way into the club when he heard the
music stop.  He had noticed the wind insignia on Aria's forehead when Jedite slapped her.  He
lunged at Neflyte and hit him with a fist shaped paw.  Neflyte staggered back and let go of Aria. 
Sailor Fire launched her attack at Jedite.

     "Fire!  Combustion!  Flare!" a beam of fire shot toward Jedite.  He managed to avoid it
almost completely, but his hair singed.

     Poseidon took this chance, as Sailor Heart duked it out with Neflyte and Sailors Fire and
Earth were duelling with Jedite, to slip Aria her power stick.

     "Trust me," said Poseidon.  "Take this and say Wind Crystal Power."  Aria looked at the
cat and the strange stick it gave her, but trusted him, held the stick up and said...

     "Wind!  Crystal!  Power!"  At once a wind funnel started to grow and surround her.  She
spun around with the funnel and within a few seconds, her arms burst out of the funnel followed
by her legs.  She stood in a spread-eagle position as the funnel began to shrink and enter the
crystal in her tiara.

     Neflyte, Jedite, the other Elemental Scouts and Poseidon    Looked at where Aria once
stood.

     "Who are you?" asked Neflyte.

     "I am Sailor Wind.  You've used music and entertainment for your twisted schemes far
too long.  On behalf of the Moon, I'm gonna blow you away!"

     "We'll see about that!" said Neflyte as he threw electricity right at Sailor Wind.

     "Not today, bright boy!" started Sailor Wind.  "Wind!  Monsoons!  Burst!"  The funnel
returned from her tiara and enclosed Jedite and Neflyte.  They spun around and around for what
seemed like an eternity as little bolts of lightning and drops of rain hit them from every angle.

     The funnel returned to Wind's tiara and Neflyte and Jedite stood dizzy and half-drained.

     "We'll get you for this, you rotten Scouts..." said Jedite as Neflyte grabbed him and
disappeared.

     The Scouts quickly transformed back as people were starting to regain consciousness. 
Aria made sure that the band was all right and they said they'd be willing to play one final song
for the evening.

     "This song is for everybody who loves music as much as we do, maybe you've heard of
it.  It's called  Old Time Rock'n'roll!"

     With the Alex's guitar filling in the usual piano spots, the group played on as if nothing
had happened.  Tara, Flame and Adrian just sat back and watched their sister rock on.  Aria, once
again, was in a good mood.
