Vows and Honor
The Oathbound
A most unlikely pair of she’enedra(soul sisters, or two made one) has been made. Kethryveris is a Journeyman mage, and a fugitive from her family in Mournedealth. Tarma shena Tale’sedrin is a Shin’a’in Kal’enedral, so sworn when her clan was slaughtered by bandits. Together they are a formidable pair. Since Tarma is not yet ready to raise her clan’s banner again, they have turned mercenary. Sworn to help women in need, they travel western Velgarth, working side by side to avenge the innocent . . .
Oathbreakers
Tarma and Keth have signed on with a crack mercenary troop, Idra’s Sunhawks. The Sunhawks are devoted to their captain, Idra, actually the daughter of the King of Rethwallen. After the aging King dies, the Royal houses are locked in a conflict over the new King. Idra must go to the Court and choose her father’s successor. She disappears without a trace after about six months. Since Sewen, Idra’s second in command, cannot leave the troop, Tarma and Kethry volunteer to go after their missing captain. When they get to the court, however, they find a level of intrigue that they had never encountered before. The yai si corthu(two are one, synonymous with she’enedra) ally themselves with the Court Archivist, Jadrek, and mount a search for their vanished captain. But there are evil forces at play, based in deceit, conspiracy, and torture, and steeped in mystery, that are bent on destroying the three allies . .
Oathblood
The third book in this series is a collection of short stories, including the very hard to find Swordsworn, the tale of how Tarma and Kethry met. I have not read it yet(it’s missing from the library), but I have read reviews by others. You meet Kethry’s children, and there are some other short stories about the partners. The last hundred pages is a short novella, although I can’t tell you what it’s about. Anyway, Oathblood has to be at least decent, merely because it’s by Misty! *grin*
*Notes: Again, read the songs at the end of Oathbreakers to hear some more of Tarma and Kethry’s adventures. The lyrics are written out on my songs page.
