Masamune Shirow was born on the 23rd of November 1961 in Kobe, Japan. He studied in Osaka art. There he published, in 1983, his first Manga "Black Magic" in a fanorganisation called "Atlas". Later, in february 1985, Seishinsha published his Manga "Appleseed" his official debut. Seishinsha published also "Appleseed 2" and "Black Magic" again. At the same time when Shirow´s "Appleseed" was released he finished his study and works for five years as a High School teacher. During this time he released some new Manga: Dominion (1986), Appleseed 3 (1987) and Appleseed 4 (1989). After that he quit working as a teacher and devoted to Manga.
