C-SWAT
WHEN
THERE'S TROUBLE IN PARADISE
<>

In
this section we will attempt to give more detail to the men and women
who
perform the most dangerous duty an officer in Night City can pull....
C-SWAT.
In Night city there are several C-SWAT squads to every precinct,
although
the actual headquarters is located in the Precinct 1 building.
C-SWAT
squads are made up of 8 man teams, with each member of the squad
handling
every aspect of Cybernetic crimes, from investigation to
suppression.
Due to the delicate nature of Cyborg crimes C-SWAT duties often spill
over
into other areas, such as backing up SWAT in unknown situations, or
joining
a narcotics investigation when known cybernetic offenders are present,
and even Riot suppression. When on duty, and not assigned to a
case
or in training, C-SWAT officers may elect to perform regular police
activities.

Contrary
to popular belief, C-SWAT officers are not psychotic violence junkies,
well not in the popular sense. Nor does C-SWAT simply accept
anyone
of the street. It is true that the NCPD does hold a standing
recruiting
advertisement campaign, all applicants must first still become
qualified
police officers. Joining C-SWAT requires graduation from the Police
Academy,
as well as a rigorous extra 3 month training course (although if the
officer
has military combat experience he or she may choose to skip the extra
training,
most don't). Once a member of C-SWAT, the officer is assigned to
a squad. The training doesn't stop there, as the squad must
continue
training one weekend a month and are required to attend a week
long
intensive training course twice a year.

In
addition to being competent in law enforcement, each C-SWAT officer is
trained to be proficient in marksmanship, with competence of most
firearms,
first aid, insertion, extraction, hostage rescue and anti-terrorist
tactics,
EOD, ACPA piloting, THAMOC, and all cybernetic systems.
In
addition to the standard police issue equipment, all C-SWAT officers
are
issued a special ID which allows them to requisition virtually
everything
providing they can prove the necessity to the chief.
