入 行 一 帆 風 順
Eason 入 行 的 過 程 可 說 是 一 帆 風 順 ， 從 英 國 回 港 參 加 第 十 四 屆 新 秀 歌 唱 大 賽 ， 以 雄 渾 有 質 感 的 歌 聲 嬴 得 冠 軍 ， 九 五 年 又 有 機 會 到 日 本 參 加 第 四 屆 東 京 音 樂 節 比 賽 作 表 演 嘉 賓 。隨 後 加 盟 華 聲 出 過 四 隻 大 碟 。 「 在 日 本 身 處 Chage & Aska 的 錄 音 室 ， 就 像 在 發 夢 ， 以 前 沒 想 過 有 機 會 能 置 身 其 中 。 」 雖 事 隔 三 年 ， Eason 那 時 的 興 奮 仍 存 留 至 今 。
唱 得 投 入 的 點 子
早 在 英 國 讀 中 學 時 ， Eason 已 接 受 四 年 正 統 聲 樂 訓 練 ， 傳 統 聲 樂 跟 流 行 曲 的 唱 腔 截 然 不同 ， 當 天 所 學 的 真 功 夫 ， 今 天 派 得 上 用 場 嗎 ？ Eason 覺 得 在 用 氣 方 面 ， 從 前 學 習 用 橫 隔 膜 來 運 氣 ﹝ 即 俗 稱 丹 田 氣 ﹞ ， 現 在 仍 有 幫 助 ， 不 過 流 行 曲 著 重 「 喉 嚨 聲 」 ， 表 達 時 便 需 作 適 量 收 斂 ， 不 像 唱 歌 劇 般 強 調 擴 張 聲 線 。
一 首 歌 的 旋 律 、 歌 詞 、 編 曲 和 演 繹 各 佔 重 要 地 位 ，Eason 認 為 編 曲 很 影 響 歌 手 的 表 達 ， 他 會 跟 隨 整 首 歌 的 氣 氛 來 演 繹 ， 若 遇 上 難 明 的 歌 詞 ， 便 會 請 教 填 詞 人 ，了 解 後 再 慢 慢 熱 身 ， 融 入 故 事 中 ， 然 後 唱 出 驚 喜 。
由 於 時 間 趕 迫 ， 歌 手 未 必 有 足 夠 時 間 去 準 備 如 何 演 繹 一 首 歌 ， Eason 說 ：「 有 時 別 人 剛 作 完 一 首 歌 ， 給 你 聽 了 明 天 便 要 錄 音 ， 時 間 太 趕 ， 我 便 抓 緊 第 一 個 反 應 去 唱 。 有 次 試 唱 一 首 新 歌 ， 兩 次 後 監 製 覺 得 不 錯 ， 卻 沒 有 錄 音 ， 結 果 我 就 唱 不 回 那 種 mood 了 。 自 此 ， 不 理 三 七 二 十 一 ， 試 唱 也 錄 音 ， 有 備 無 患 嘛 。」
唱 出 心 底 真 性 情
原 來 Eason 的 外 號 是 「 人 肉 流 動 唱 機 」 ； 去 到 邊 唱 到 邊
，有 機 會 在 香 港 樂 壇 發 展 ， 亦 不 求 大 紅 大 紫 ， 也 沒 雄 心
要 改 革 樂 壇 ， 只 是 憑 一 顆 熱 愛 音 樂 的 心 ， 將 更 多 的 音 樂
新 元 素 介 紹 給 大 家 ， 如 Hip-Hop、Latin、Blues ，能 夠 用 歌 聲 表
達 自 己 的 感 覺 ， Eason 已 頗 滿 足。
Eason in his element
This year's Hong Kong Arts Festival features several pop themes and one of these starring Eason Chan.Made up of purely music instead of shining stage with dancing teams, Eason's concerts are all sold-out.
Eason won the champion of the 14th New Talent Singing Awards in Hong Kong, then joined Capital Artists and in there four solo albums have been released. In 1995, he was chosen to be the guest performer in the 4th Tokyo Music Festival organized by Yamaha Music Foundation of Tokyo.
Equipped with four years of traditional vocal training, Eason is capable to breathe with the diaphragm at singing. Considered that throat vibration is emphasized in pop songs differed from operas, Eason has adjusted his singing tone to cope with the taste of Hong Kong audiences.
Music arrangement and lyrics are determinative factors to Eason in how to sing his song. Therefore he always tries his best to understand the whole background of a song by asking about the lyrics.
Eason is described as a human portable juke box by his friends reflecting his great affection to singing. All he wants to do is introduce more and more new styles to his songs and share his happiness and sadness with people. (Bridget Ho)
