SERIES: "Night Warriors/Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers Revenge"; both a sub-par video game and a sub-par anime title. Fun for all!
SERIES DESCRIPTION: In a time long long ago, in the world of things that go bump in the night (uh-oh... I can see where this is going....), a young man (NO!) takes it upon himself to defeat these monsters with his living sword, the creatures being affectionately known as "Darkstalkers". Yawn. What a bore, I've seen many other titles with this same story, and titles that used the idea better than "Night Warriors".
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: Well, I guess you can't have a video game/anime series without a slut. Of which the prestegious part of Morrigan calls for. Be a slut. Be a vampire succubus slut that dwells in death and rivers of human blood while seducing the main characters. As a girl, can I be the first to YAWN again?!?!? And do you even know what a 'succubus' is? Well, if you didn't read up on your midieval history, they are slutty daemons that infiltrate the dreams of holy men/women and force sex on them. Morrigan? O.K., they attempt to give her a status other than promiscuous daemon girl. It just so happens that Morrigan is the Daemon King. King? Dont ask me, I didn't write the stupid story. And if I did, I would be forced to do something drastic. First of all, I wouldn't let myself reproduce. Then I would shield myself from the public eye so as to avoid flying projectile objects. Then I would probably kill myself. What? I'm straying away from the topic? What is the topic? Oh, yeah. Morrigan. In conclusion, the only thing good about her is those cool pink bat tights.
INSIGHTS: Need I insights into a less than insightful series such as "Darkstalkers"? This series tries so hard to have gothic overtones in which otherwise would be a blood-sucking installment of the "Street Fighter" series; it ends up looking like the bi-weekly showing of "the Rocky Horror Picture Show" at the Liquid Room. And the animation sucks too. Sometimes those geniuses at Capcom make Morrigan look beautiful, and other times she looks like a friggin' man. Ugh. But if you go for cheesy video games, pointless T and A, less-than-satisfactory artwork, annoying characters, and someone trying REALLY hard to make a gothic cartoon, I strongly advise you to check "Darkstalkers" out. You won't be dissapointed.
