Larva

NAME: Larva

SERIES: Kyuuketsuki (Vampire Princess) Miyu, Vampire Princess Yui, Shin Vampire Princess Miyu, and all of their accompanying mangas

SERIES DESCRIPTION: A modern Japanese mystic searches Japan in pursuit of an immortal vampire girl and her traveling companion, both in a quest to find and banish the Shinma, or Japanese god-demons.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: Larva is one of the Shinma, the Japanese god-demons mentioned before. Being binded to Miyu by blood and by name, he lives to serve her and has rescued her from destruction several times over. A very mysterious character, not much is known about Larva, although we do know that he has a "family" of some sort back in the demon-world that dissaprove of his attachments with Miyu. But what are these attachments? Is he merely a slave helping in the very elimination of his people, or is there something more between Larva and the Vampire Princess? (My sister and I are opting for Number One...)

INSIGHTS: Larva is one of those strong, silent types. You never really know what he is thinking, or feeling, and you don't know if he has any of those impairments in the first place. How does he feel about being eternally binded to an immortal fourteen year old? Does he love her, as she seems to love him, or is that calming exterior hiding murderous impulses (readers will find that out later, or so I'm told) within? And that mask. Although meant as a punishment to Larva (and to me, I might add), and a real shame in the name of beauty, I have a feeling that the mask is really a metaphor for the character of Larva, something behind a simple outside. Am I making any sense whatsoever?

NOTES: Rumor is going around that "Shin Kyuuketsuki Miyu", the new TV series airing in Japan, is coming to America in the future! Lets keep our fingers crossed!

I read somewhere that "Kyuuketsuki Hime Miyu" literally translates into "Blood Sucking Demon Princess Evening", or something along those lines...

LINKS: The World Of Vampire Princess Miyu: This could very well be the best VPM site on the Internet as of yet. A nice layout, good information, a huge image gallery, and everything else you could ask for in a web site. Problem is, there is not enough Larva!

Lord Dhampire's Larva Shrine: If you didn't get enough Larva from the "World Of...", than this site is for you. At seven pages of pictures, I think this is probably the biggest Larva gallery available. If you can get past Dhampire babbling about his love all the time, this is really worth your time. Also includes a section dedicated to the Cure (the greatest goth band of all time!), among other things.
