SERIES: "Oh! Shadow Lady!"
SERIES DESCRIPTION: This short lived series focused on Aimee, an incredibly shy eighteen year old that has never even had a boyfriend. She finds a magical makeup compact (hmmm... sound at all like everyone's favorite Pretty Soldier?) that allows her to transform into the city's Number One Threat, Shadow Lady. Shadow Lady uses her agility, charm -and let's not forget the slutty costume!- to steal anything she wants and to avoid the police that are continually on her tail.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: Unlike most of the other gothic anime characters included in my site, Aimee (and her alter ego, Shadow Lady) is the center and main player in the series. Meaning that this category is pretty much pointless for this shrine.... let's see. Um, she's got a perverted but basically well-intended daemon boy companion and sidekick named Demota. And, uh... let's see. Powers. Well, she's got a Shadow Butt that "bounces and clouds the minds of men", if that means anything to you. Didn't think so.
INSIGHTS: More so than just running around and stealing stuff, this series is more or less dedicated to helping people overcome their fears and inhibitions to become more like they would like to be, to just be yourself instead of devoting everything you have to and becoming obsessed with an image or only one facet of yourself. Aimee is happy with the freedom and glamour associated with Shadow Lady at first, but everything eventually catches up with her and she realizes that she doesn't need an alter ego to get her what she wants and that the boys really just like a girl who will be herself. Maybe I'm just reading into a shallow series too much, but it sounds good, doesn't it?
LINKS: So far, I haven't seen or heard of any "Shadow Lady" sites other than the promotional page on the official Dark Horse Comics release, and I haven't even been there. If anyone has a "Shadow Lady" site or knows of a good one, just e-mail me or sign the guestbook. I'd love to see it.
