SERIES: "Zetsu Ai 1989" ("Impossible Love 1989"), and the sequal "Bronze: Zetsu Ai Since 1989" yaoi mangas by Minami Ozaki. It has recently been made into an anime as well, but I am not sure as to whether or not it is released in the U.S.
SERIES DESCRIPTION: Koji Nanjo is a famous pop singer (what story would be complete without one?), but really doesn't care too much for the money, girls, or pretty much anything else... One time on the road, he sees a game of soccer going on in a nearby field. One player catches his eye- her spark, her charisma, and the overall passion for the game. He immidiately falls in love with her. Later, after getting drunk somewhere in the city, our hero is found unconcious in an ally by a boy named Izumi Takuto. Izumi drags him home and nurses him back to health (even though he really is NOT a caring person, and basically despises most humans). When Koji wakes, he sees that Izumi is the soccer-playing girl!! (That's a bit odd, i know... but hey, it's a cartoon!) He instantly starts showering affection on poor Izumi (poor because it's *un*wanted affection; Izumi is straight, hence "Impossible Love"), and the main conflict of the series is born!
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION: Despite the fact that Koji can have anything he wants, he is quite miserable. I think he has had problems back in his childhood, and I have been searching for any information on this, but ::cry:: can't find anything! He has a twisted mind. I don't really know what made him the way he is, but something must've happened. He has forced Izumi to kiss him on many occasions, and has even tried to *ahem* rape him! He stopped before anything too bad happened, but still!
Koji's managers are very upset with him for falling for Izumi. He never wants to leave and go on tour (which is very important for a musician). Homosexuality isn't frowned upon in Japan like in America (stupid homophobes!), but it still isn't exactly encouraged. Also, they don't want Koji to have a significant other. He should appear to be single for all his female fans. And Izumi *still* won't accept the fact that he has fallen in love with Koji, because he hates to show anything resembling emotion.
INSIGHTS: So he may not exactly be the goth-est character in the world. (He's still gother than you, so HA!) I think that the unreturned love for Izumi has kind of warped his mind. I mean, everyone's liked someone who hasn't liked them back (I know I have....), but those are simply petty, insignificant "crushes". Imagine real LOVE! And having it all go to waste. Izumi really is a jerk too. Koji will come up behind and hug him, and he'll push him off and yell at him! He just doesn't appreciate what a wonderful guy Koji is.
Koji is so wonderful. (You may not know this, but I really go for blondes!) He's smart, affectionate, passionate, a great singer, handsome, and will never deny his true feelings! How could anyone (even straight guys) refuse such a charmer?
