Ranma countinuity post anime or approx volume 23. Street Fight is sometime
before the events of Street Fighter Alpha 2.
Ranma is at a street fighter match and about to face Ryu. Akane is very
worried about him facing a world champion with more years of experience.
When the names are called, one member of the audiance is so surprised at
Ranma's name being called she didn't cheer for her idle, Ryu. Ryu defeats
Ranma but was impressed that Ranma came close to defeating him. He gives
Ranma some words of encouragement (which Ranma didn't really like) and
left. The girl was torned between chasing after Ryu and seeing Ranma.
Debating too long, the choice became see Ranma.
Ranma was dismayed when a girl approached him. "You're Saotome Ranma?" The
girl asked him and he answered with a nod. He mentally swore when her eyes
became a bit dreamy.
"You're father wouldn't happen to be Genma?" she asked with barely
surpressed glee.
"Hey, look if Pop promised me to you as...." He was cut off by a vicious
glomp.
"It really is you! Mom will be so happy that I found you. And you're so
manly. I can't wait to tell her!" she chirped.
"Raaannnnnnmmaaaaaa!!!!!!!"
"Hey, this isn't what it looks like!" Ranma tried to defend himself.
The girl let go of Ranma and looked at Akane. She smiled cheerfully at her
and said, "You're Akane, right?"
Akane blinked and nodded. "Huh?"
"Oneechan!" She hug Akane in a similar manner as she did Ranma, causing
the Tendo girl to sieze up in shock.
"Who are you?" Ranma asked a bit upset.
The girl let go of Akane and looked at him funny. "You don't know who I
am?"
"No, I don't."
"You don't know you're own sister?" She looked really hurt.
"Sister?!" Ranma and Akane blurted.
"You don't remeber me? I'm you're sister, Sakura," she said proudly.
"You're mom is Nodoka?" Ranma asked.
"Of course she is." Sakura's eyes widen in shock. "Does daddy have other
children?"
"No... not as far as I know. I doubt it. Thought so once, but was wrong."
Akane slapped on the back of the head to stop him from babbling. "I'm
surprised Auntie Saotome didn't mention you when she visited us."
"She was quite upset that Ranma wasn't there. But she talked quite a bit
about you, and can't wait until you join our family."
"Join the family, right." Akane nervously giggled.
Sakura latched onto her brother's arm. "Oh, Mom will be so happy to see
you! I can take you to see her right now."
Ranma and Akane exchanged frightened looks.
Ranma and Akane convince Sakura to first go to the Tendos and debate
telling her about the curse, but when they get there Genma splashes Ranma
telling Nodoka is there. Sakura is quite surprised about Akane's cousin
Ranko and works to get her mother to accept Ranma as is.
Ranma's sister is indeed Sakura from Street Fighter Alpha 2, but early in
her obsession for Ryu-sama and just as she's starting to pick up martial
arts from watching her Ryu-sama fight. Her skill level at this point is
about Akane's but is learning more at Ranma's speed and will quickly
surpass her. Her ability give rise to question to how long before she's in
Ranma's and Ryoga's bracket.
Sakura is a couple years younger than Ranma and Genma knows he has a daughter.
The name 'Fighting Change' comes from Ranma's and Akane's attempts to keep
their relationship at the status qou as with Nodoka's and Sakura's presence
seems to push them together faster.
Ranma, Akane and Sakura decide to train together and the two Saotomes hope
to eventually have a match with Ryu and defeat him.
