Sorrow, Fear Not

Belldandy, Skuld, Keiichi, and Urd are sitting around watching a television program on whales when Skuld exclaims that SHE WANTS ONE but Keiichi absolutely refuses the idea of getting a pet (which is fine considering the chances of getting a whale are slim). Megumi arrives, thanking Keiichi for helping popularize her softball club (I'm assuming that's from the last comic in this series but I don’t know because I haven't got it) but the gang is wary; where Megumi is, there's always trouble.

Megumi cracks and brings the gang out to show them the real purpose of her visit, a little puppy that had followed her home. She says that they don't allow pets in her building but Keiichi reiterates his earlier sentiments and refuses to allow it to stay. He does, however, agree to allow the dog to stay for one week while Megumi finds it somewhere else to live.

Belldandy resolves to change Keiichi's mind and the next morning wakes him up early to help her take the dog (who they name Assam) out for a walk. The dog leads them all over town while the two follows running. They stop for a moment on a bridge when suddenly throws himself over the railing! Keiichi and Bell move to catch Assam just in time to avoid a truck that would have run them down. Assam saved their lives!

It's a while before they are able to fish the little hero out of the water and by then he is weak and has gotten some water in his lungs. Bell and Keiichi bring Assam home and Keiichi keeps vigilant watch while the dog sleeps off his weakness.

It is then that Keiichi admits that as a child he had a dog whose name was Kota and who died, that's why he didn't want another pet. Belldandy persuades him that he must let himself love and not to fear the sorrow of loss hence the title Sorrow, Fear Not but just after Keiichi decides that he could love Assam Megumi arrives again. She had found the real owner of the dog and now he had to be returned.

So the whole gang brought Assam (whose real name is Marron) back to his real owner and they find out that the dog has a habit of nibbling on people he likes, which he's been doing to Keiichi all along.

All's well that ends well.
