"Not Going Back"

Chapter One

"No I'm not going back! I hate it there!"Jessica yelled at her aunt Beatrice who told her bad news.

"It's for your own good sweety, you'll get a good education there. It may not be as close as I would like but the teachers are the best!" Beatrice said to a very angry Jessica.

"No! I'm not going back to that school! I never got a moments peace in that place. And the teachers are horrid!" Jessica said as she turned her back on her aunt.

"I'll let you think about it. Then in the morning give me your answer tomarrow. Okay?"

Jessica's aunt left her niece in her room to think about going back "Tracy's Boarding School for Girls".

Two years ago Jessica Syrin was sent to Tracy's by her parents. But after one school year Jessica was kicked out due to the fact that she looked strange. The school said Jessica had caused a lot of trouble while she was there, which was a lie.

Jessica never got along with the other girls at Tracy's either. They named her an out cast due to the fact that she had diffrent colorations than they did. Pale skin, wild curly hair colored dark auburn, dark blond, and grey brown. Large stormy grey eyes and was five foot six then. Now she is five foot eight and a half. Short torso, long legs and arms and a long neck.

Every one thought her strange looking. All the girls at Tracy's had Light to medium blond hair, blue, brown or green eyes, and was short. The students looked almost like clones except that they all had diffrent faces. And Jessica definatly stood out.

When she was there the teachers didn't like her much either. You see, most of the time the teachers gave the wrong information and Jessica always corrected them. They didn't like that, especially when they looked up the answer and found out that she was correct.

But Jessica not only disliked the students and staff at Tracy's but the building as well. Mainly due to the facts that the place had no heating, the showers gave only cold water and the roof leaked when it rained. Just to name a few problems.

There was not one thing she liked about the school. And Jessica swore to herself that she would never go back to Tracy's Boarding School for Girls.

'I'm not going back to that place!' Jessica thought to herself as she sat down on the window seat over looking aunt Beatrice's garden. A large oak tree stood to the right of her window. The branches practically covered the window so no one could see in.

As Jessica sat there she stared out at the dark starry sky. She couldn't understand why aunt Beatrice was sending her back to that awful place.

Finally Jessica fell asleep on the window seat silently crying.

Outside of Jessica's window concealed by the leaves of the large oak tree, floats a clear crystal like bubble. Watching Jessica through the bubble was two people. One short bent old man in a hooded cloak. Next to him was a tall lean man, dressed elaboretly with finely shaped features, and masses of blond hair framing his face.

As the two watched the sleeping girl, the taller man watched with keen intrest, wondering if this is the girl they are searching for.

"Is she the one we are looking for Shinwa?" The tall man asked.

"Yes you're Majesty she is the one. Not only does she have the features of a Syrin princess but the power and temper of one as well. She is most definatly the one we seek."

"Excellent."

"Spying on young girls are we?" an new voice said coming from behind the two.

"Jason . . . what are you doing here?"

"Now, now Jareth is that any way to treat your younger brother?" rersponed Jason as he aproached his older brother who is quite annoyed with this interuption. "I was just in the neiborhood and decided to pay a visit to my favorite sibling."

"I'm your only sibling Jason. Why are you really here?" Jareth asked cooly as he turned away from his brother.

"I was board. So I decided to see what you where up to. And it looks to me that you are spying on a young girl. Why?"

"Your majesty, we really must decide what to di before Maken decides to attack again," Shinwa replied annoyed by Jason's unexpected arrival.

"You're right we should. Jason we are not spying on her. She is the one we need to destroy Maken." Jareth said as he approched the large crystal sphere.

"How do you figure? She's just a girl. How can she be of any help against Maken?"

"Looks can be decieving," Shinwa said addressing Jason's questions. "The girl looks older than she appears to be. How old do you think she looks?"

"About sixteen or so. Why?" Jason answered wondering why the old wizard asked the question.

"Jason, you never where good at trying to figure out a person's age." Jareth said as he crossed his armes across his chest as he glared at Jason.

"Then just how old is the girl?"

"The 'girl' you refer to her as is ninteen and in her senior year in high school." Jareth said as he laughed at his brother's shocked face.

"Ninteen? She is ninteen? Who is she?" Jason asked.

"She is Jessica Syrin. She is one of the two remaining decendents of the Syrin Empire. The other is her twin brother Micheal." Shinwa explained to the confused Jason.

"Is this true?" Jason asked not too sure he beleived the old wizard.

Annoied with his sibling Jareth let out an exasperated sigh wondering if Jason will ever believe anything Shinwa says. "Yes Jason it is. She and Micheal are the last of the Syrin bloodline. Their parents, Trevor and Natashia died in a car crash a few years back. They're Aunt Beatrice and Uncle Donald are relatives on their mothers side of the family. They don't know of their nephew and neice's heritage and neither do Jessica or Micheal."

"How can you be so sure? Just because they have the last name of Syrin doesn't mean that they are from the Syrin royal family."

"I have checked out their family back ground and their great-great-great-great-great grandfather was Prince Ryan Syrin, who escaped execution and fled to the mortal world nine hundred years ago. He married and had one son then that son married and had a son and so on. Up until know there has been only one child born to the Syrin family and the child has always been male.

"Jessica Syrin is the first female born to the family in over one thousand years. And she is the only one who can release the captive dragons and turn them against Maken." Shinwa explained.

"We need to bring Jessica and her brother here at once so Maken can be stoped before he can do any more damage." Jareth said as he watched Jessica sleep. Then the crystal went blank.

The next morning, Jessica woke up feeling very stiff and cranky. She made her way to the restroom and to take a shower.

After her bath Jessica busied herself with brushing her long hip length hair. After she had finished brushing the long mass of curls she decided to leave it down with the exception of a grey head band.

Then she put on a pair of black jeans, a dark grey poets shirt, a black vest and black knee boots made of faux leather.

She looked at herself in the full length mirror and smiled.

"I love it! Aunt Bea is going to hate this."Jessica said with enthusiaism as she left her bedroom to go eat breakfast.

Down stairs Jessica found her Aunt cooking breakfast, her brother and Uncle sitting at the table waiting to eat.

"Good morning,"Jessica said in an uncheerful monotone voice as she entered the warm kitchen.

"Well look what the cat daged in!" Micheal said as Jessica sat down in the chair next to her bothersome twin.

"You almost missed breakfast Jessie. You should have set your alarm clock."

"Don leave the girl alone. She has a lot on her mind to think about," Bea said as she sat a plate of pancakes, eggs, and sausage down in front of Don and Micheal.

"Aunt, I don't want to go back to Tracy's again." Jessica said as a plate was set down in front of her.

"Jessie dear it's for your own good. Tracy's is the best school there is."

"You're not going to send Jessie back to Tracy's Boarding School for Girls are you?" Micheal asked his Aunt suspicously.

"Yes. Why?"

"Jessica was sent there my mom and dad two years ago for a so called good education. When all Jessie got was crap. And because of it she had to repeat sophmore year." Micheal said in his twin's defence.

"Is this true?" Bea asked her cranky looking neice.

"Yes Aunt Bea it is. The building has no heating system, the showers give only cold water, and the roof leaks when it rains. And to top it all off, the students and faculty hate me just because I look diffrent."

"Why didn't you explain this before?" Don asked.

"You never gave me the chance to," Jessie replied. "But I doubt they would let me back in there any way. They kicked me out after one schol year telling my parents that I was a bad influence on the other students."

"Ya! She kept contradicting the teachers on things they were teaching." Micheal put in with a smile.

"Well I guess you shouldn't go then." Bea said after thinking about the situation.

After breakfast, Jessica went out for a walk to try to losen her stiff muscles and joints.

Jessica left her aunt and uncle's house and headed for the park. One of her favorite places in town.

She walked through the park gates and walked down one of the pathes of the large park. When she came to a bend in the path she turned it to find a group of guys who looked llike trouble.

Before she could leave without any of them seeing her, she was grabed from behind.
