I walk down this well-worn path

In a the forest deep in my mind

Up overhead a white crane flies

Keeping even pace with my own time

Over mountains thru valleys deep

Beyond seas of shifting greens

I knew not where I was bound

Deep in my past it seemed

Up overhead there was a great roar

Who, What, Where I exclaimed

A dragon black as winter’s night

Breathing tongues of violet flame

Follow me to discover yourself

To a truth you never knew

Up this river you must go

At the end I’ll be waiting for you

I see him there waiting for me

Sitting near an old crumbling dam

He motioned me to come to him

To learn just who I am

This dam was made with pain

Holding back your own self love

As you grew it began to break

And let your own love flow

I looked and bowed my thanks

Knowing what he had said was true

This dam and all its pain

Almost kept me far from you

Looking back I see the dam

The pain and suffering that I endured

With new strength I now turn away

And walk into a new dawn.
