Beginner's Information: (for more information on anime go to the Anime FAQ or check out the Anime Terms for words you may not know)

This site is devoted to Bubblegum Crisis and other related anime. Bubblegum Crisis is a Japanese Animation OAV series that started in 1987 and ended in 1992 due to legal ownership disputes between the makers. Intended to be a 13 part series only 8 were made. Currently, AIC, known for the Tenchi Muyou and El Hazard animes, have plans to make a Bubblegum Crisis TV series as well as a movie. Bubblegum Crisis is highly regarded by many animefans and has become an anime classic. All that have not seen it should watch it as soon as possible. Although incomplete, the story is still very well done and the later episodes have extremely fluid and detailed artwork.

Basic Plot:

The story takes place in 2032-2033AD. After a great earthquake which literally destroyed Tokyo, a city was formed called MegaTokyo in its place. A business corporation called GENOM had basically rebuilt the city from the ground up. They have produced cybernetic robots called Bumas (Boomers) which they sell to countries for use in wars or conditions hazardous to humans. Feeling that GENOM has gone out of control with power, a courageous all female band of mercenaries named the Knight Sabers attempt to stop GENOM. The basic story takes many elements from the cyberpunk classic Blade Runner starring Harrison Ford. For example, the concept of Bumas resemble the Replicants in BR (robots that resemble humans) and GENOM is very similar to the Tyrell Co. Even the corporate buildings look strikingly similar.
