1. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

13 Questions Answered

----Why did you write this FAQ?

I figure, since I want to purchase this arcade game, why not write a FAQ on it?
Since there are no detailed FAQs on this game(or for the original Samurai Shodown 64
no less), I wanted to be the first. But, I underwent some trials and tribulations
uncovering all the truths.

----What trials and tribulations did you have to go through to write this?

It is a CLEAR MISNOMER that the internet has EVERYTHING. I ended up searching
for hours on end, and translating countless Japanese characters to figure out names
of special moves, character names, and such. I got no help, no leads; therefore, I
had to do everything myself. Even when I asked for help, I got none. I have written
other FAQs as well(Neo-Geo System FAQ, among others), but I guess that to others,
that gives grounds for someone to be "conceited". Any matter, it's that demeanor that
gives the internet a bad name, and something which I detest.

----Who's this purple dude?

You may have found a hidden character! His name is Gandara, and randomly, you
may end up facing him. He is very hard, if you remember from the earlier Samurai
Shodown 64.

----What is this game? Is it the same as Samurai Shodown 64?

Samurai Shodown 64 has 11 characters, a seemingly "more free" space to fight in,
but wasn't tuned up real well, the fighting engine seemed to lack GOOD AI(not necessarily
EASY), and was a rush job. This game is the sequel to the first SS64, and this adds
two new characters, while adding new music, better AI, and better game engine along
with it!
Also, the RAGE GAUGE, makes you activate your finisher when its full, by pressing
BCD together, or ABC to activate the "Custom Combo" mode.

----Is this game worth it, over the original?

If you own the arcade version, and want to upgrade to the "updated" version, in
this case I don't know if I would.  Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and its sequel I would;
this game, I would only for the better music. The game hasn't changed THAT much to
warrant another $1000 spent.

----Are BUST and SLASH in this game?

Yes, BUST and SLASH are in this game! I will call them Treachery and Chivalry,
respectively.

----Would you recommend this game, other than Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition?

That is such an unfair pairing, since they are two completely different types
of fighting games. Fatal Fury is a 3D game with SOME button mashing prowess, but
otherwise, is a very well made fighter that is a general made one. Samurai Shodown
is NOT just a regular fighter. You can't just press buttons and get anywhere in this
game. I know for a fact FF: WA will make more than SS: WR, but I prefer SS: WR for
its atmosphere, originality, and awesome music alone.

----How many more Hyper Neo-Geo 64 games will there be?

There hasn't been even an announcement of Hyper Neo Geo 64 games being made
since last April 1999, so I think SNK may want to kill this platform off. The
games are great, but as far as a 3D platform, it is horribly underpowered. The
ST-V has more power than this in 3D....and that tells you something...

----Well, the PSX version is Warrior's Rage 2.....

But this FAQ of mine is for the ARCADE VERSION. I own no video game systems; I
own many arcade cabinets, and am a high volume seller of Neo-Geo MVS Carts. I go
for the arcade version whenever I can. Even though the arcade version of this game
costs about $1000 as of 11/27/99, and the DC will cost $50; the arcade is the one I'll
take, for reasoning of rapid load time and the right to use it in the arcade, having
that arcade feel.
I may come across "cold", but that's how the arcade realm works. No matter how
many different "story" modes or extra characters one can throw in; give me the arcade
version any day of the week!
And, SNK's "Warrior's Rage 2" for PSX is in all actuality, the following name:

Samurai Spirits: A new Chapter of Blade

It really has nothing to do with this game at all.

----Can you find this game for me?

Sure I can! If you prepay me in full for $800, I can get one for you in a week.
Remember though, that this will not come out in America, and the price will rapidly
depreciate(why I'm trying to hold out buying this as long as I can). If you want arcade
games or Neo carts, email me at cmull11217@aol.com, and I can help you out.

----What's SNK's address so I can tell them to bring out a sequel to this game?

Well, to be honest, I don't know if that will work real well, but you can try...
Their address is below:

	SNK of America
      2502 Stevens Creek Blvd.
      San Jose, CA 95119 U.S.A

      Phone#: (408)292-4550
      Fax#: (408)292-4271

They do welcome and respect your comments, so talk with respect and maturity
when you call or write them, please! :)

----Is Asura a guy or girl? Who's the last boss?

Just as Amakusa in Samurai Spirits, SNK loves to make effeminate males into
super powers of their own force. Therefore, Asura is indeed male. And, the last boss
is an effeminate male named Yuga, who can kill you 10 times before you hit the ground.

2. CHARACTER AND MOVE LIST

In this section, I give the listing of all characters, and each of their moves
and names. I will also give my recommendations and uses for each move, how they work
against your opponent and such...below, is my legend for the move list:

Dn-fd, Up-fd, Dn-bd, Up-bd --Direction FOR SPECIFIC directions

DRP --Dragon-Punch motion, which is:
                                     FORWARD, DOWN, DOWN/FORWARD

QCB, QCF --Quarter circle back/forward, from down to
                                     left or right

HCB, HCF --Half circle back/forward, from left or right

360 degrees --move joystick in one full circle(or from right
to up, 270 usually works as a 360)

A, B, C, D --infamous SNK button layout,
A is short, B is medium, C is kick,
                                     D is switch plane

FORWARD x2 within a second --the infamous DASH...everyone should know this

B + C? --DODGE an attack, but only if you aren't using
                                     your stand currently

BCD --when POW gauge is full, activates finisher

ABC --when POW gauge is full, activates "Custom
