She met this guy from America Online
Who called her up for the first time around 8 or 9
They talked for a while and everything went fine.
He made her laugh and he made her smile
He made her realize that life was still worth while
Well there came a day
He told her he had something he had to say
He told her he had these feelings for a girl he never met before
And that his friendship with her was great
But he wanted something more.
There was this problem you see
This girl was already taken
She wasn't where he wanted her to be.
She was already with someone
And she didn't want to set him free.
He wasn't trying to break them apart
But her man already captured her heart.
She didn't want to hurt her man
She didn't want to see him cry.
And she'd told herself she'd give her relationship another try.
She promised her fiance she'd never hurt him again
Her fiance told her she'd have to draw a line between her lover and her friends.
She knows in a relationship there are sacrifices you have to make
For the man she's with...for the relationship's sake.
And even though she doesn't want her friendship to end with her friend
He might choose to make it end.
So he'll step back and tell her he feels pathetic
To fall for a girl who he has never even met.
But she'll have to understand his decision to walk away
Even though she'd hope he'd stay
Sometimes in life things have to be this way.
Maybe they'll stay friends and get to meet someday?
